Alright I'm new on this forum, so, If I'm cutting in I apologize. I wasn't sure where to ask this so I figured I would start here. I recently bought an 02 Vulcan 800 classic from a friend. It has just barely over 10k on it. The plugs and oil were recently changed and all seems well. I have been through about 4 tanks of gas on it. I filled up for the 5th time today and after filling I went from reserve back to the fuel on position. I rode about four miles and it died out on me. I was able to get it running again by switching back to reserve. Then once it was running I switched back to fuel on and it seems to be fine. I called the previous owner and he said he had run into similar issue before. It doesn't seem to be over heating. I was just wondering if it could be a vacuum issue or could it be getting dirt in the line that could be in the bottom of the tank. I know the petcock has a small screen or filter on it so I'm not sure if that should even be a worry. Any advice on what to check or watch for would be greatly appreciated. and if I posted in the wrong place just tell me to go away. Thanks

OK not to be rude and not telling you to go away but start a new thread in this section. It will get more exposure that way and more likely to be seen by others and maybe someone that has experienced that same problem will see it.

OOOOOO, you got lots of stories then!
We have a cafe racer place here in KC that I'll try and get to Saturday. And bikes don't get any rattier than mine. I didn't know people purposely built them, I thought they just evolved |

Well, we just can't let anyone in here. Tod made a place for us to be safe. They don't have to be a full fledged mechanic, just share the same loathing for irritating customers that the rest of us do. I'll be glad to get some sleep tonight, I'm getting kinda weird and grouchy. |

Because my scheduals all screwed up. Worked 2 weeks 2pm to 2:30 am, then two weeks 2pm to 12:30 am, then 3:30 to 2:30am, then 1pm to 10:30pm. Now I'm doing split shift cause the day person is gone, 6:30am to 6pm. I'm all effed up.
