Exclamation 1982 kz550 problems. Anyone. Help me!

Can anybody help me. I left my bike sitting for about a year with the same gas. I flushed out the tank, i soaked the carb and all components in Gunk carb cleaner. All jets are clear. i put it back together and it will start but will only idle with the choke out and will only rev to around 6000 rpms and only go 30 mph. I broke it all down again soaked in Yamaha carb soak, and wire brushed all components. I replaced the spark plugs and wires. I took the plugs out and i could feel compression, and all vacuum lines are working. Started it up and still the same. The bike ran great last summer. Please can someone help me with this. Give me some suggestions that i haven't tried yet.

Some other useful things are that when i do take the carbs of, on the engine side there is alot of gas build upon the outside lip of 1 and 2. also i think my float valves are wrong cause they are over flowwing. what is the best way to adjust the float bulb and what height do I set it to. I also want to buy a carb rebuild kit for all 4 carbs but they are hard to find. I dont want to spend too much money the average price is $30 a carb but there pics of the parts look different then my parts.

First of all, check and make double sure you've got no vacuum leaks and the airbox is installed.

If issue persists, they are probably best solved by SeaFoam. It's stronger than the other stuff you've been using.

I like to get some cheap porcelain bowls, disassemble one carb into each. Allow them to sit in the seafoam overnight, do not dilute solution. Reassemble. DO NOT GET THE DIAPHRAGMS with the seafoam or other cleaners! Just gently wash them in very dilute dish soap. Rinse thoroughly.

Give it a shot, it's the last crack before buying carb kits (Your carb is a Tekei TK26V-1A if they're still the originals, you can confirm by checking to see if there is only one throttle cable). Air screw at 1 1/4 turns if exposed (i believe it's behind a metal cap on that carb).

BTW, Your KZ550H1 is much more commonly known as a GPz550. Wouldn't want you to get it confused with the lowly KZ550A3 or KZ550A4 (basically the same bike, no mini fairing, 1 disc up front, rear drum and prettier too.).

Did you take wires through the jets?

Service manual would be real handy right about the time you want to set the float height. It's good for most other things you'll want to do to it too.

Thank StarGate and the guy I freeloaded it from, Corey Clough.

So when you say: "Air screw at 1 1/4 turns if exposed (i believe it's behind a metal cap on that carb)." What do you mean by that?

It means if the cap has been removed set the mixture screw 1 1/4 turns out from lightly seated.
