fat tire

I have a friend who was talking to me about putting a wider tire on the rear of his 2007 zzr600. What is the widest he could go without changing the stock swingarm?

one size bigger than stock is the only "safe" width he can go to and thats not a good idea cause it will affect handling (if he likes to rail in the corners)
