Default Needles vs mains

Riddle me this...
All I hear is pilot jets are for idle to 1/8th throttle, needles for up to 1/2 throttle, mains from there.

OK and fine, I agree. But....if you increase the main jet size, wouldn't that affect the richness concerning the needle as well? Just a little? Since the main jet is feeding the fuel to the needle, and the hole in the larger jet is bigger, doesn't that allow more fuel to flow past the needle even at partial throttle? And if that is true, couldn't you tune your mid throttle not only with clip adjustments, but by also changing the main jets.....

Anyone?...........

Yes, That's why you dial in the proper main jet before you adjust needles and select a pilot jet.
