Default is there a way to slow down a pressure gauge?

Like an idiot, i bought two cheapie vacuum gauges to try to sync my carbs on my parallel twin bike. Unfortunately, the needles moved so fast back and forth that I ended up just guessing as to balancing the carbs based on the approximate ranges of the swinging of the needles (they were a blur). I am going to a track day in about three weeks and wanted to take another stab at it. Is there some kind of restrictor that would prevent the needle from bouncing around so much around the dial or should I just spring for a carbtune? Thanks.

You need to restrict the airflow which will slow the response of the gauges using a damper of some sort.

Shop gauges uaually have short small bore pieces of tube that are inserted in the line between the gauges and the Vac take offs on the Carbs, 1 per line.

Older gauges employed a turn screw system that acted on the line to restrict the flow.

To give you a better idea the hole in the restricting tubes are about 1/16" Dia.

In the pic below the Damper/Restrictor is number 3.

Thanks for the info. The vacuum gauge came with a connector with two male ends that looks like it could restrict some flow. I'll split the line that it came with and see what happens. Thanks again.

You might be able to choke the tubes down with some small c clamps.

Thanks for the tip, Charlie. I've been messing with my brakes and pilot screws and haven't looked at syncing the carbs yet. Hopefully in the next few days.

you could get small valves from the hardware store and just adjust them till the needles stop bouncing so bad. thats how the mechanical guages i used where setup at school.

The small air control valves for the fish tank bubblers might work as a restriction device. They are brass with a knob to limit air flow.

I synch'd my throttle bodies yesterday. Used a gage for #3 and had to pinch the hose with my fingers a little to quiet the needle. Then used a Synch Pro to do all 4 together.
