I finally passed my motorcycle driving test yesterday morning (failed it the first time because I didn't do any right shoulder checks... *grr*), and picked up my new Ninja 250R in the afternoon!
Traffic was a b*tch in the city, but luckily the 250R really is nice and easy to drive, so I made it back home without any scratches. I was going to take some pictures, but my camera's batteries are dead, and I don't have any others lying around at home. (Will by some rechargeable ones soon). I ended up with about 100 KM yesterday. This morning I drove another 200 KM, some straight, fast roads going into the city, but mostly country roads where it's really fun to drive. It drizzled in the midday, but it seems dry again now, so I'll take it out again for a spin in a bit.
One really has to change gears A LOT on the 250R. During driving lessons, I drove a Honda Hornet, and I only used the first 4 gears. With the 250R, I'm already in 5th gear when driving at 50 KM/H in the city! Ah well, it was tedious at first, but I'm already getting used to it.
One thing I miss is a fuel gauge, though.I thought all 2008+ models came with a fuel gauge, but maybe it's only the carbureted ones, not the ones with fuel injection? The exact model type of mine is EX250K9.
Overall, I really love the bike, even though I'm still breaking it in, and it's not particularly powerful under 6000 RPM. My dealer told me I can take it to 8000 RPM after about 500 KM, so if the weather doesn't turn worse, hopefully I'll be able to step it up to that tomorrow.
