Default It has begun.

Hey there everyone, new to this whole forum thing. My buddy who is helping me fix the bike suggested it. He has been on a forum for his bike for a while now and has found many helpful people and parts because of it. Got myself a KZ 750, in need of some minor repair. hopefully it wont take too long to get it all fixed up. It has some pretty sweet custom stuff done to it already by a close friend, I will get some pics up asap

Thanks Beans. Got myself a new gas tank on ebay for 51.53 with shipping. It is in really good shape too. I am hoping to get a brand new rear tire too, if the price stays around where it is. It's at 35 bucks right now. Good stuff.

Congrats on the gas tank. $35 for a rear tire is a steal. I paid $120 CAD for my Bridgestone, mind you that was at a shop. What sort of things are you planning on doing to the bike?

Welcome! Don't sweat the "new to the whole forum" thing. We all were at one time. And from experience, this is overall the calmest & gentlest one I've ever found.

Thanks Bent. But in reply to beans, I am doin all kinds of crazy things to this bike. My buddy and I chopped a few inches off the back end an he fabricated a new tail for it. It is gonna end up somewhere in between a crotch rocket and a cafe racer. I want to put some kind of front fairing on it, and eventually I want to get a GP instrument panel. Just love the amount of info they give you.

Definitely soon, just figured out a nifty little custom option today. Cut the air box apart to use as a brace for the pod filters I am gonna put on. Even going to reuse the parts that were holding the hoses to the air box. I am planning to attach a pipe to it that will go into the hose on one side and stick out on the other side for the pods to attach to. It is going to be marvelous. Or at the very least, functional. I just have to find my camera now. Been too busy screwin around with the bike

Thanks V2K, thats a pretty sweet ZX ya got there. Must be nice to have warm weather as often as you do. The midwest is an arctic tundra at times.

Sounds like an interesting air filter set up. I had a real tough time getting mine out of the frame, then when I finally got it out it didn't have anything in it! I decided to just throw some pods on it. Did you end up winning the rear tire?

Thanks Rapzo, your avatar pic is outstanding. I was playing some online shooter a while ago and we actually had an austrian guy on our team, it was so rewarding that he had a good enough sense of humor to quote that while he was flying the choppa.

Beans, I am still ahead on the tire now, but there are four days left on the auction. On the plus side, my unemployment payment got deposited today and I deposited the 50 dollar rebate check from buying my cellphone. That way, if the total goes over the 40 bucks total with shipping I can go a little higher. I am kinda stubborn about finding a deal and on a tight government budget at the moment.

Finally got a picture of the bike on here for everyone to check out. Still needs work, but you should have seen it before.

Heres the dissected air box/ future pod filter brace. The pods wouldn't have had enough room without bumping into the frame. only pods I could seem to find are too long

I had that same problem finding pods that would fit onto the 50+ mm intake ports on my carbs with enough clearance with the frame. The pods I got off eBay have about 1-2mm of clearance from the frame! I wasn't too worried about the clearance though, they were only around 10$ each and anything is better than an empty airbox! Looks like you have a pretty cool project set out for you, I look forward to more pics and updates.

It's definitely starting to take shape faster now that I am living in the same place as the bike. Not to mention my roommate is constantly tinkering with his. Gives me inspiration to keep working, and I get to learn about whatever he is working on too. Got myself a vintage Kawasaki Logo Patch for 4.50 off thE bay yesterday. Gotta have at least one logo for the jacket, and the patch is about as old as my bike. Good Times. BTW, what kind of pods did you end up using?

I just used some cheap K&N style pod filters I got off ebay. I imagine they are fairly similar to these filters.

K&N no less. Good stuff. Thanks for the info sir. just finished taking the footpegs off, cleaning them up an giving them a fresh coat of black. I will put up a pic soon, just gotta wait for them to dry so I don't screw the paint up trying to take a picture. My welder buddy made them out of some tubing, drilled through so that they kinda look like the baffle on a silencer for a pistol. He also did that on the brake lever, kickstart and shift lever. Its looks even cooler painted black. Thank you spray paint.
