    Default Music and Riding

    Do they mix?

My school is under a mile away from me and i go to the gym right before class. So I strap my ipod to my arm and use a minimum volume to ride with a set playlist. How do you all feel about that? Any of you do it, is there a better way? I wear it under my gear.

I'm usually too busy avoiding getting killed by blue haired individuals not paying attention as they merge or turn to enjoy any form of riding music.

I won't listen to music while riding in the urban jungle, or anywhere where thie is a lot of traffic. But, I will strap on the iPod when we hit the road less travelled.

i find the music from my engine and the sound of the wind is plenty to make me happy, and im a musician and music nut! i like to hear the sound of my intake howling and the sweet high-rpm tone of my I4 underneath me.

call me crazy...but its just too sweet a sound to pass up!

I'm with trike on this one... I won't listen to music in town, or any trip under an hour, but I have been known to put the mp3 player and "sound isolating" earbuds in on a long trip. In town it's just too skeery...

and I will agree with David and Carlo. I just got my mp3 player and have ridden with it playing on a couple of rides, it really makes the ride more enjoyable, but you sometimes have to watch your speed when there comes on a song with a lively beat

Life without a soundtrack is..... I can't complete that thought. It's too foreign and unfriendly.
I just finished putting new speakers in my helmet.

I'm currently looking for helmet speakers. The ear buds just aren't comfortable under my helmet. I might not listen if I was riding in a bigger city but around my town I would.

Keep it turned down into background music. If you can't hear your own bike, then it's too loud.

You need to hear your surroundings, car horns, sirens, screetching brakes behind you.....

Wear the iPod almost every time I ride. Makes the daily commute a little more bearable. But if your a newer rider, I suggest getting your riding skills down solid before adding the distraction to the mix.

And don't listen to Pantera in heavy traffic! It can insight road rage.

When i ride with my mp3 player, I can hear it but I can easily hear everything around me. Longer trips are ear plugs only.

I rarely get on the bike without my iPod, I need my tunes. I just use the standard earbuds that came with it, they really have no noise cancelling qualities, so I can hear what's going on around me.
