It's pretty common. My shoots to 1/2 in as little as 40 - 50 mi, and is hovering in and around E at approx 100 - 120 mi.
I have read on the boards that there is a remedy, but considering the trip meter is an even better gauge IMHO, I figured why bother shelling out $$$. As long as the Low Fuel light is working right (for me, comes on at 170 mi at a minimum, upwards to 200 for constant freeway RPMs).

Mine goes down at a nice pace from full to half, then it drops very fast to empty.
It hits empty after about 75 miles. Best solution has been to reset the trip odometer with every fill up and use the gas LED to tell me when its time to fill up. The trip odometer hits roughly 200 miles when the LED lights up. |

I reset the trip meter at each fill up on my cages as well as the bike. Also if you fill up a few times when the low fuel light comes on you will have a good idea on how far you can travel with out fear of running dry. In effect you have three ways to monitor your fuel and two out of three ain't bad.

I had mine in yesterday for first oil change. They knew what it was as soon as I mentioned it and put the part on order. I will take it back next week for the repair. This is obviously a known issue. Take it back to the dealer. It is a half hour fix.
