::looks at knee, looks outside, looks at knee again:: Dang im more ****ed that I cant go out skiing sunday then anything. I went back to the doc today for an MRI and the ACL is 50% torn and the meniscus is only about 20% so the the prognosis is better then yesterday at the walkin clinic. He said IF all goes well next week in surgery and i stay committed to my therapy after I should be able to atleast hit the road for an hour or so a day on the bike by my birthday on july 9th without any troubles and maybe longer if i can deal with the pain that will set in. I also found out my doc rides a harley softtail so he is on my side even more to get me up and going good enough to atleast get in some riding this year.

The whole legal thing about going to court is pretty much out of question. I have bc/bs for insurance through work so thats no big deal at all and they are paying me to sit on my couch cuz of missing work so im not out any money oter then the 5 minute drive to the doc office and physical therapy center that is 10 minutes away from my house. If it plays out the way I thinkit might I might just make more money sitting on my couch then actually being at work with it slowing down some my hours will get cut down eventually and my ins. co. is paying my for 45hrs a week because that is my average over the last 3 years at the job. Another reason legal action isnt on my mind is because it was the first time I had ever been to this resort since i was about 10 years old. So I wasnt falimiar with the trails let alone how fast I gained speed on them. Im just glad I landed where I did and not off the trail in the hardwoods cuz it could have been alot worse. I understand the part of taking them to court to prove the point that they had shotty upkeep of the trails but we will never know when the jump was built so it could have only been there for a few hours between ski patrol runs down the trail. And the snow conditions werent the best for visiability either because my girlfriend said today that she lost sight of me and she was behind me about 30 ft and heard me go down which I still dont remember which is fine with me! Either way taking them to court will be more stress on me and the court system then itll do good. Im alive kicking and not planning to let this slow me down to much!

Oh and Steve the sight of the 2 ski patrol girls standing over me wasnt all that bad either Just cant let the gf know cuz ill prolly lose all my perks to being hurt from her Luckily she dont want anythng to do with my motorcycle online life so she wont read this forum

Again thanks everyone for the kind words!!!! One of my riding buddies called me today to see how I was doing and told me he was going to buy me a gremlin bell to sew into my ski pants at the ankle for when I hit the slopes again whenever that may be! I think he was joking but knowing him who knows he might just show up with one tomarrow when we go out for our regular dinner and drinks at Applebees with a couple other friends and all the girlfriends and wifes since a couple are married.

Hmmmm....maybe I'd better go read those posts again!

Sorry to hear about the leg. I'll bet the bike will be spotless by then with all that cleaning time.
Dave Im not that Lucky! But up until sunday me and the gf have kinda been trying to get her knocked up. well thats on the back burner for alil bit since it hurts to lay on my back and have any movement at all Well unless the doc gives me another shot of morphine to the knee like he did this afternoon. I could pretty much walk out of his office with just a serious limp couldnt feel a thing from my thigh to my foot for about 4 hours after. to bad she was at work

And you bet itll be spotless when it hits the road again. its pretty clean right now except for the greasy fingerprints on numerous fairings and such.

The physical therapy should be a cake walk I know what I already have to do since when I was a sophmore in high school I was playing basketball I went one way and my lower right leg just popped right out and made my leg look like this Foot> --/__ <thigh been through the knee physical therapy. Luckily i didnt tear anything then just severly stretched the tendons and ligaments out. and I was back to walking that time in about 3/4 of the time they told me I would be.

Go see if you can rent a Cryo-Cuff somewhere, it'll really help with the pain and swelling. When you are able make sure to get some good physiotherapy, it will most certainly help with your recovery as well. And buy a decent hinged knee support, it will protect and support your knee once you are more mobile.

Of course, none of these should detract from the "waiting on hand and foot" therapy you are receiving now.

Best of luck.
Already got a cryo-cuff from my brother when he was in his car accident last year his insurance bought it for him and now i use it most of the time when im home. They are wonderful Beats bagging ice thats for sure

So, only a partial tear. That is very good news. Are you going for a full reconstruction or just some ortho to clean things up in there? A 50% tear is bad, but does not require reconstruction.

Dave, I just read this. Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Hope to have you up and around asap. As far north as you are if you can be riding by your b-day you won't miss but a couple months.you should still get about 4 months riding in. Good Luck and do what the nurse tells you.

atleast my couch has a built in fridge so my snacks and beer are right at my fingertips!

Now that's different. Don't get spoiled by all the inaction!
You'll be back out on the road this summer.
