Can't wait for the start... last year (had I gotten any pics posted) I woulda had about 6000 miles.. no where near a win, but not too bad.

My 2004 has almost 30,000 miles on it, and all the miles have been within 125 miles of my house. I don't think that is too bad This year I am hoping to hit 10,000, again, all within 125 miles of home.. a 53 mile commute to work (one way) seems to add up faster than most people would think...

i have the same kind of ride every day, my one way is 50 miles and if i work both of my jobs it adds another 10 miles, so anywhere from 100 to 120 miles a day, 500 - 600 miles a week plus the usual 200-300 miles on the weekend. it all adds up pretty quick.

I've got an advantage My 'miles' are shorter than yours and add up quicker

Ok, i suppose i will have to convert from metric to imperial
Hopefully April 1st will be a good start date for me too, need this snow to go NOW!

Since I have a 230 tire on my 900, my miles will rack up a lot slower than normal... but I'll give it a shot.

I'm in. Last year I racked up 11k, but didn't do the before or after photos.
Hopefully I don't have any issues this year and can post 12.
The poor Yammi I rebuilt over the winter is just going to have to sit until I can ride her off-road where the GPz isn't designed to go.

For those of us with no chance to rack up those kinds of miles (Riding season for me is about mid May to beginning of Sept.) you should have a mystery miles drawing every month. At the end of every month everyone send in their totals for the month and you drawn a random number say from 100 to 5000 and the one closest without going over wins.

or dog sled miles. Lets see 10 dog X 1 mile = 10 miles right?

I like the mystery miles drawing too.
Me personally, riding season is from March to Oct/Nov but only because I'm willing to tolerate riding with a neoprene mask and occasionally freezing my butt off with negative windchills. (25 degrees F 75 mph you do the math. 60 mph @ 25 is 3 degrees F by the chart that doesn't go to 75mph.) Additionally, I'm currently driving 84 miles per day during the week, so that helps.
I really think it should open later for those folks way down south and close sooner to give us Northerners a chance, since we have to deal with snow (March 2: five inches here) and rain while all the CA folks have to do is avoid the forest fires.
But I also think those who are willing to brave it have a chance and those who are not have a good excuse to take a very long ride across the country. So it sort of works out.
I got my bike out last night, I think it's gonna be one of those years like two or three years ago where I ended up missing several weeks of riding due to mechanical issues. Has anyone ever submitted two bikes for contention with a sum of miles on both machines? I still know I don't have a shot of even breaking the top five, but I'd like to think I do.

ill be in on this too. probably wont win but it will be fun.
My personal goal is to wear out my brand new Metzler ME880 in 1 season.
In Nebraska we actually have a pretty long season if you dont mind a little cold. I rode every month of the year last year and I didnt go out of it was below about 35-40 degrees.

Yes, we'll start on 4/1. I'll post a response and edit the original post with a word in it that must be written on a piece of paper and displayed as part of a picture of your odometer.

This post will happen just before 4/1, say about 9:00 or 10:00 the night before and you can post a picture in this thread of your odometer (the paper with the word written on it must be in the picture).

I'll save this picture, and it will be the starting mileage for the race. If you plan to use more than one bike, you must place a picture of each bike's odometer on this thread.

At the end of the race, I'll post another word, and this word must be in a picture and posted before midnight of the last day.

Again, I'll save the pictures, and announce the winner. As of right now, we're just playing for fun, no prizes are at stake. If this changes, I'll update the original post to this thread.
