Whoever put that list together obviously hasn't been over Red Mountain Pass (between Ouray and Silverton in Colorado). I've been over Independence Pass and Beartooth Pass numerous times, but nothing scared the bejesus out of me like Red Mountain. I look forward to riding Beartooth Pass every summer, but you will not EVER get me on Red Mountain Pass again.

I personally vote the road to Hana on Maui before it was widened. Now that was interesting.

I-15, between Cajon Pass and Vegas?..................Crap!, that's where I live. I'd better stay in bed today. Actually, I live in Hesperia which is about 10 miles north of Cajon Pass. I travel up and down the pass a lot. The dangerous part for me is going down the pass, south on the I-15, towards LA. You've got trucks going slow down the right two lanes and the rest is a free for all. I have been in a cage in the fast lane, doing 80 and will have someone drafting me so close, that I couldn't see there headlights.
On a bike there is no safe lane.
For those of you that might be familiar with the area, the next fun spot is just before the Devore split. The I-215 splits off of the I-15 and you have a combintion of people in there cages going 80-90 mph and trying to decide what freeway they want. I have seen people cross 4 lanes of traffic at speed, when they suddenly realized they were going the wrong way.
Here in California, you also have the magic lanes that appear and disappear on you. You're riding along in one of the outside lanes and it will disappear, forcing you to now merge with more traffic. On the other extreme you have lanes appearing and, of course, everybody now wants that lane. It's not so bad when it happens once, but there are a few sections where 4 lanes will disappear one at a time over a rather short distance. I guess they needed to "shift" the freeway over a bit, who the hell knows.

Did anyone notice that the picture for the dragon is from the Nevada commission on tourism?

Go watch the Youtube video's of the truckers on US 129 (Tail of the Dragon) and you'll see why it hit the list very quickly.

I did my first mountian twisties at night (by accident) when it was 20 degrees fahrenheit out, with a passenger. I feel your pain.

haha, I'm half Vietnamese and couldn't agree more. Most of em can't drive here...it's just to controlled, there's actual rules. Go to Vietnam and try to drive a bike or car through a city. Good luck, cause when it's fine for a bus full of people to make a U turn and travel the wrong direction on the highway to get to the exit back there you can just imagine what else you'll see. It's more like India just a different style of driving, more social/interactive with other drivers, if you will.

They missed the road up Pike's Peak.

Pikes Peak America's Mountain

The most dangerous interstate on a per vehicle basis:

I-84, from Tremonton, UT, to the junction with I-86 in Idaho. The problem is sudden changes in weather, with blizzards and sand storms. On a per-vehicle basis, the most dangerous in the country. That's because compared to a lot of interstates, of course, it doesn't have all that much traffic.

The most dangerous highway for pedestrians:

What used to be US 666 (interesting number, huh?) from Gallup, NM, to the Colorado border. It's now US 491. Especially bad on Friday nights, with drunks sleeping on the warm highway.

Have you ever watched the Pikes Peak Hill Climb? Those guys are insane! And they have a lot of different types of vehicles--everything from big rig trucks to motorcycles. The average speed for a motorcycle is 60mph, but some dude on a BMW did 97mph. It's quite the road--dirt most of the way, no guardrails, and lots of tight twisties.

Taiwan taxi? which year? Speed limit in the city is 55kmh.. so how scary can it possibly be? Traffic there consists of mostly small vehicles and scooters, unlike trucks and SUVs being the majority here.
70Mph on the freeway here aint no joke. I hv seen cars swerve to the side just to avoid slamming into my rear coz traffic came to a sudden halt! Wasnt even me driving at the time and i could see the traffic behind me. Scared the heck out of me. Phew!

The I15 seriously needs some decent streetlights on ramps and everywhere else. I dont understand why there is a lack of proper lighting and NO guardrails on the tight turns on ramps. No decent catseyes or painted reflective lines on so many areas too.

In Malaysia, i ride alone at 2am without worrying about not being seen coz the streets and highways are brightly lit up, with large reflective arrows guiding u round the corners.
