Thumbs up Say hello to my newest little friends!

Well, with the Dems chomping at the bit to ban guns and tax bullets I went ahead and added two new family members before I am prevented from doing so for my own good...

Attached are some pics of my newest members. One is the Springfield XDm .40 caliber handgun. Very very nice weapon. Holds 16 rounds plus one in the chamber. Excellent safety features and extreamly light for a full size gun with such a huge round capacity. Removing the slide cleaning this awesome unit couldn't be eaiser. Adding it to my CCW next weekend.

The revolver I bought for my wife. It's a S&W airweight hammerless 38 revolver. Extreamely light weight and very concealable. Not quite as light as the "airlight" but the difference was 6oz for $500 bucks so it was light enough . It such a small, light weight unit that she won't have an excuse to leave it at home. That's one of the biggest problems with conceal carry... it's such a pain in the arse when the gun is big and heavy. I thought about buying myself one as well. Maybe I still will....

I was going to buy a 45 1911 but I just couldn't get past the round capacity limitations...

Both good choices. I will have to post some pictures of my "civil unrest kits" when I can.

The gun ban people aren't worried. They know that if you can find any ammo, you won't be able to afford it.

I just weighed the 38 revolver on my fat guy food scale or "doper" scale as I like to refer to it 1lb 3/4 oz loaded with 5 rounds of the only kind of personal defense rounds I could find. The Springfield comes in at a massive 2lbs 7 & 3/4 ozs. Not exactly a light weight weapon but should be fine once I get a decent IWB holster.

    Nice weapons, got ammo?...lol. Congrats

Can't say that I really "need" any more guns but if the dollars were available I suppose it would be nice to have a collection I guess. But in these economic times I have no "extra" dollars for such things. My ccw permit expired and since I have only "carried" once I doubt I will renew it.

With all of the gun buying and ammo hoarding that is happening and the manufacturers of both making record sales - guns in America should be having quite the positive spending stimulus that Washington has been hoping for. And they weren't even aiming in that direction.

Sorry Rich... You Californian's are SOL on the Springfield XDm's I guess. Your local and state government doesn't think your capable of handling the extra round capacity. Although... there is a bill pending to change your CCW laws from the pathitic "good cause" to the excellent "will issue". Should help you law abiding citizens out a little. Follow AB 357... they delayed the hearing on the 13th but it was supppose to be looked at today...

If you're not gonna' use it, would you mind renewing it and sending it to me?
In CA it's a major PITA to get one.
In Idaho, the only reason you need to give is "To legally carry a firearm concealed"

That'll be nice if they are able to change the issue requirements.
Right now it's up to the individual Sheriff.
My county is classified by the NRA as "Almost shall issue"... but we still have that "good cause" problem, and the state does not consider "For self defense" to be "good cause".
I have to be in a business where I carry cash or jewelry.

As far as the XD... I don't know about the XDm, but they do make 10rd mags for the older XD models. I would imagine the mags are compatible.

Nice new toys. I like those XDs. You use the same PD ammo as I. Seems to be pretty good stuff. I carry a Keltec mostly as I have a sig that I like to carry also.

Wish I could do that for ya Rich. You're right, here you just give them the money (about $50 I think and good for a few years) they will do some sort of background check and that is it. There is no listing of what you can carry and no classes etc. required. Easy

I just looked at the bill and although it doesn't give a status of pass or fail it does give a summary of who opposes this change in the law. Here is the list of the people trying to stop you from exercising your rights and defending yourself.

California Chapters of the Brady Campaign
    California Peace Officers Association
    California Police Chiefs Association
    California State Sheriffs' Association
    Legal Community Against Violence
    Sheriff, Alameda County
    Sheriff, Butte County
    Sheriff, Del Norte County
    Sheriff, Santa Barbara County
    Sheriff, Santa Cruz County
    Sheriff, Shasta County
    Sheriff, Ventura County
    Sheriff's Office, Tuolumne County

Something to think about if you live in those county's when elections come around again. Sheriff's are elected officals...

Not sure if you have looked yet or not but it also changes the open carry laws a little if passed as is. counties with 200k or less will be able to OC loaded but I think you would still need a permit... which goes against the 2nd but it's california so it's better than nothing.

The XD is an awesome weapon as well. It's what got me looking at the XDm. The only real differences are the match grade barrel, the round capacity, the mag well to hold the larger mags, a few other small adjustments. overall though they are both extreamly nice weapons.

No surprise from any of those, other than Shasta and Tuolumne.
I'm surprised "The People of San Francisco" aren't on that list... they VOTED IN a DC-style ban.

Berdoo here. If I could satisfy the "good cause" requirement, I'd have one, but under "good cause", I have no legal justification.
Closest thing to "good cause" I have is I work on traffic signals in some unsavory neighborhoods... but again, "self defense" is not considered "good cause".....
Though MAYBE that'll change with last weekend's shooting of the RedFlex employee in AZ, may he rest in peace.

Would that be covered with the CHL, or a separate permit?

What counties in CA are under 200k? I'm hard pressed to think of many CITIES under 200k!

    I love the reliability.
I've run 1,000rds through it two days in a row out plinking in the desert without teardown between days.
NEVER a problem with a JHP. I seem to get 1 or 2 jams (failure to feed) every 300rds with the Winchester "Value Packs", but on examination, I'm finding that 3 or 4 rds out of each box of 100 have a bit of a "lip" at the edge of the casing that's catching on the ramp and jamming when the slide comes forward.
A bit of a PITA, but now that I'm running my finger and thumb all the way around the joint before loading the mags, I've had no problems.

ZERO fatigue... I'm just as accurate on round 500 as I am on round 10.

Easy to get the CC here in Oregon. I'm taking a class so I can get the Utah CC which is valid in most states. I'll still need the Oregon one for here as Oregon doesn't see any value in the Utah one.

Something else you might not know... It's "legal" to OC unloaded in most area's of California. Some city and town have laws prohibiting this so you have to be careful. Problem with OC unloaded is for some reason the LEO's in california have the right to stop you and verify your weapon is unloaded. Or another way to put it is harass law abiding citizens. Unloaded is simply defined as bullets not attached to gun in any way. They can be in your mag on your belt or even your holster just as long as they are not physically touching your gun. I often go into Califonia while OC'ing. It's a pain in the arse since I have to reveal my weapon AND unload it but why would anyone ever go to California un-armed?!

Haven't had a chance to put any rounds through mine yet and it's killin me. I have racked the slide and dry fired (practice) about a thousand times so far The only thing I can say about misfeeds or double feeds is "tap, rack, bang".

Yep! My Utah application got sent out with my renewal. Oh yeah... I forgot... I had my wife take the class this last weekend... we got her finger printed today and she will be a CCW holder in 45 to 120 days

The other problem is that some paranoid ninny will call the cops and claim that you were "brandishing".... something that has caused problems for a few legal CHL holders when their jacket moves "just wrong" just as someone is looking "just right" and catches a glimpse of the weapon or the holster.
