Default Our trip to the Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon

No, unfortunately, we weren't on the bikes; we drove there in the cage. Our bikes are in storage back in Colorado (we're house sitting for a friend in Utah this summer).

I hadn't been to the Grand Canyon since I was a child, and Alan had never been there. We had wonderful weather. It never got above 70 degrees and, unlike Utah, it never rained while we were there. We stayed in Tusayan (south rim) for two nights and spent the third night in a cabin at the lodge on the north rim. The south rim is great because it has so many observation points, but it also has a lot of people. It's a bit like Disneyland. We liked the north rim a lot. It was so quiet and peaceful. The drives out to the observation points are really pretty--great motorcycle roads.

On the way back to Logan we stopped at Bryce Canyon. Neither one of us had ever been there. It has an unearthly beauty. I really wish we'd had a couple of days there. I would have loved to hike down onto the floor of the canyon, but we just didn't have time. I hope we get to go back sometime--preferably on the bikes.

The photos don't do either place justice. They're the kind of places you have to see in person to appreciate.

In memory of my friend Deron Harden. Life isn't going to be the same without him.

That's pretty wild Julie. Can you imagine being the first person to happen upon the Grand Canyon?

Ya... we were there last Sunday the 14th.
We were contemplating a similar thought when we stayed up at Crater Lake a few years back. Hiking up what one would have thought was mountain and coming over the edge to see the lake.
I believe it was only discovered by white folk in the mid-1800's. Prior to that only indigenous people knew it existed.

All in all, their are some pretty spectacular natural wonders in North America that need to be looked at.
