Not so simple grasshopper is the answer to this one.
Actually the word wild is highly debated in poetry, it is usually a single syllable word. But in many parts of the english speaking world it is pronouces with two beats, (The southrn states are not one of those areas). You can force the two beat pronunciation by putting the word wild at the end of a phrase, as I did.
Switch the words around and you can see that the whole poem is off now.
Kawi carries me
Open Road, wild and free
Kawi heals me
I agree it is gramatically it is wrong, but there are ways to make things work.
