    Default Riding Haiku

Okay here one for the would be poets among us. write a haiku about riding motorcycles. Remember a haiku has three lines the first has 5 syllables the second has 7 syllables and the third has 5.

So here is my pathetic attempt

    Kawi carries me
    Open Road, free and wild
    Kawi heals me

Ok lets see what you got.

Here's a couple I crafted in Japanese when I was living in Tokyo. Tried to translate it 5-7-5 as well:

    秋雨に
    濡れ手滑るぜ
    マンホール
    trans:
    gentle autumn rain
    makes as slippery as sh**
    those manhole covers

    寒い日々
    オイルクーラー
    にカバー付く
    trans:
    days getting colder
    the leather cover goes on
    bikes oil cooler
You can only be young once, but you can be immature forever!

    Morning Sun Rises
    Mist hovers above the road
    Good day for riding
I don't mind If you own the road.
    Just own it behind me.

Not meaning to be critical....but if I'm not mistaken....your middle line only has 6 syllables!

At least that's how we'uns pro-nun-ci-ate it in KY!
('wild' is a one syllable word)

Hhhhmmmm. I don't know. That sounds kind of familiar. OK, what about this one.

    Ev'ry rose has its
Thorn just like ev'ry night has
    Its daw-aw-aw-awn.

    Sunrise paints the land.
My soul yearns to ride once more.
    Mount the bike and ride!

    Fingers pull the clutch,
    Push 'START' and engine awakes.
    Her heartbeat says, "Go!"

    Ease out through my street,
    Throttle low to drift away.
    Keep neighbors at peace.

    Main street beckons me.
    I stop, await all traffic.
    Finally, it clears.

    Lean bike in the turn.
    Straighten up, twist the throttle.
    Listen as she screams!

Poetry doesn't have to be just fancy words. Sometimes riding is just a visceral, basic thing. You must have done a bit of happy yelling at the wilderness occasionally as you ride along. I know I do all the time.

That's a Haiku for all those guys who get snowed in for three months and have to sit on their bikes in the garage, making vroom noises.

Yes, and reciting it three times daily will bring inner peace

Ok, some body take Rocket's coffee away!

I wrote this about my uncle and I waiting on picking up bikes. (We purchased close to same time.)

    Looking at mileage,
I see my tank running low.
    Sadly, my ride stops.
