The date rape drug "GHB"

I was going to post this in the "Ladies Only" section, and then thought better of it since some of you guys don't actually peek ( ) and also because everyone needs to be aware instead of just us women. Some of you have met my best friend Carmon who has been on here, and this happened to her this past weekend.

Carmon and two other friends went out Sat. evening to go dancing and kick up their heels for the evening. They each had a drink or two, and then "Jonie" one of Carmon's friends complained that she wasn't feeling well. Without going into a very long and detailed story we'll just say that after an hour of profuse vomiting Carmon decided to take Jonie to the urgent care as she'd not had enough to drinks to be vomiting so badly. Jonie's condition worsened steadily to the point that Carmon ditched the urgent care idea and decided to take her directly to the E.R. A minute later Jonie slumped over onto Carmon, seemingly lifeless. At that point Carmon pulled off into a gas station and ordered the employee to call for an ambulance. Jonie then slipped into unconsciousness and her body began seizing. At the hospital the Dr. plagued Carmon with questions, and acted shocked when Jonies breathalizer test only showed that she was barely over the legal limit. Blood tests confirmed this as well. Jonie remained unconscious for the next four hours. 2 days later she remembers starting to feel badly and then she has no recollection of the remaining story. The doctor then came to the conclusion that someone slipped a dose of GHB or
(Gamma hydroxybutyrate otherwise known as the date rape drug or "liquid X") into their drinks.

Luckily Carmon and the other friend did not drink thiers because they were concerned about Jonie and knew they'd need to drive her home. When Carmon thought back over the night, she remembers two men and a woman "claiming" their table and the women stated that their drinks, keys, purses etc were sitting there and could they please have their table back. After receiving a slight attitude, they eventually got up.

Had Carmon not "felt" like something was totally wrong, or had she had too much to drink herself to pick up on it, Jonie could have died. Carmon was originally just going to take her home, to recouperate and sleep it off. Had this happened, it is quite probable that Jonie wouldn't have made it. Be careful everyone, this society is becoming more sick and dimented each and every day.

We warn each other about cage drivers etc, and I wanted to pass this incident on to my "other family"

I just don't understand how someone can do something like that... If I saw someone slip something into somebodies drink they'd better come up with a pretty darn good excuse if they dont want to become a permanent wall fixture.

Anyone that does somethng like that is pathetic! A couple of years ago, a young lady died after she had been to a local area gym for her daily workout. Seems someone had laced her energy drink with GHB and she had a violent reaction to it.

Geez - this is a good addition for the "What's wrong with people thread". That being said, "what's wrong with people?" Glad to hear she's feeling better. Like the man used to say on Hill Street Blues, "Be careful out there".

Joy, glad things turned out ok for your friend. Very glad indeed. As far as society becoming "more sick and demented and every day" I think it has always been like that. The difference is that we now afford rights to scum, instead of the way it was dealt with in the past.

I am glad to hear she is going to be ok, I am constantly amazed at the balls of some people, they are truly a part of the 1%.

I'm glad to hear this turned out ok. I constantly warn family and friends to never leave their drink unattended.

that is the key to all of this but also a girl needs to be sure of who buys her drinks for her too. If you don't see it all the way from being poured and into your hands it pays to be suspicious

ABSOLUTELY... We NEVER accept a drink from anyone if they just bring it over. That night the bartender brought every drink to us. However we were stupid enough to leave them setting at the table, which is right next to the dance floor, while we went out dancing. NEVER again will I even turn around to look at someone without my drink in my hand. I have never been so flippen scared in my life when she started seizing and slumped over on me while we are going down the expressway. I thought she was dead, she was taking maybe 4 breaths per minute and they were deep loud ones... (in the medical field they are known as cheyne stokes). Anyway... I could go on and on.. but for real, NEVER take any chances when you are out having what began as a good time!

No Carmon, not all men are like that, but I'd venture to say a lot of them are. I really can't stand it when some of my so called "friends" talk about the different chicks they banged last week or who they have lined up for tonight. It just makes me sick to my stumach to think anyone can be like that. I really feel offended when anyone thinks that I would ever do something like that too.

Aaron, knowing you as well as I do, I can say that you are not among those in that catagory. Don't sweat it, you're of much more refined caliber than that.

Glad to hear your not like alot of men Aaron. Hope noone took offense to me picking on the guys. That is just what I do best Oh.. Btw... my friends husband is a little upset with her because he can't believe she would let something like that happen. HELLO... yeah shouldn't have left the drinks but at least your wife is still alive. Hey Aaron... when she gets divorced I will send her your way... jk

Yeah... I just can't see how being upset with your wife for "letting" that happen could help anything at all. I hope he gets the "dog house" for a long time

I only wish this type composed 1%. It is steadily getting closer to 50%, but you don't know it until they feel crossed by you. I would hazard a guess that the woman might have actually laced the drink(s). There didn't seem to be a "Date" component to this story, so revenge becomes the next available scenario.

I'd go see if the bar has a security camera setup and then go to the police and then the local prosecuting attorney to see if a warant for information can be obtained. Don't let these guys get away with it no matter what, or they'll keep doing it and spread it around.

WOW!!!!!! glad to hear everything worked out, had to be scary, the world is a sick place, Hope you can find out who did it and prosecute them, if not maybe we can get a forum posse together and go a huntin!!!!!!!!!!! heeheeheehee
