Default Finally back in the gym!

Well, I finally got the OK from the heart doctor to get back to weight training. Of course, he put some restrictions on it - no more heavy lifting. He said I can do light to moderate weights, high reps, and very little rest - more like a weight loss, shape and tone workout that really gets the heart pumping. Then there is the mandatory cardio - walking the treadmill for a minimum of 30 minutes. I can tell you that after not being able to exercise and lift for so long, my butt is dragging tonight - but it does feel good to be back in the gym! Unfortunately, it seems that when we're healthy and things are going good, we take it all for granted. It's only after we lose something that we seem to truly realize how prescious it was.

Oh well, hopefully I can now lose some of this extra poundage I aquired after my heart attacks!!

It was rough starting back after so long, but I know I need and have to do it. Got to be around for the grandkids, and hopefully great-grandkids! All we can do is our best and then it's out of our hands and up to a Higher Power. Plus, some losing weight and getting back in better shape should make riding even better!! Go for it Whistle - you can do it!

Your right! Doing our best is what we can do. Thanks for the encouragement! In the A.M. I'll be doing 20 minutes on the heavy bag and then 20 minutes on the total gym!

Gollly gee Bama! I musta missed somethin cause I didn't know you'd had problems. Good to hear the doc released you!
Been 6 weeks since my stroke And I haven't lifted since then. Lifted for 25 yrs before. Bout to go nuts now. Doc released me for work next Monday & said I could start exercising again. But, like you, nothing heavy. Only high reps & low weight. Better than nothing though!

Take it easy in the gym & take care!

Thanks pitchinguy. Glad you got the OK to get back to exercising. And you are absolutely right - it does beat nothing!! I am having to start slower than I thought I would. Of course at our age just being in the gym is a blessing. LOL You take care and good luck!

Oops - time for me to work out. Lift that beer of the coaster. Ooh, yeah. Feel the burn.

Actually, I'm not a big fan of beer, but I still don't work out. It's due to a medical condition known as complete lack of motivation. I do get a good amount of exercise at work, though. The campus is on 65 acres and over a dozen buildings. Just walking in from your car is a journey.

Bama and Pitch, so glad to hear that you're both feeling better and released for the gym. About a month ago I decided enough was enough, and since then I've been trying to get to the gym and take the kids swimming for at least an hour each day. Some days I just don't WANT to do it, but after a work out I always feel happy, my self esteem soars, and I feel like I've actually accomplished more than the domestic duties!
Plus I want those pics with the new VTX to be sexy not have the need for a "Wide Load" sign on them!
