Default Jacee Dugan no longer missing

I'm glad to see that the 11 year old girl that was kidnapped 18 years ago has been returned to her family. She has two kids of her own now ages 15 and 11 who were raised by mom in her shed in the back yard. None of them have ever been to school or ever seen a doctor or dentist.

I recall being very angry when she went missing.

I read this somewhere yesterday... pretty amazing. I wonder if she'll ever tell what went on in those 18 years

I read the story last night. To say it's sad is an understatement. Kept as a sex slave for all those years and had to bear two of this guys kids. Hopefully he gets the death penalty. Wait, I take that back. That's too good for him! Send him to prison and put him in general population! I'm sure Bubba would love to repay the favor! Even though the scum of the earth is in the prison system, even they have some things you just don't do!

What's worse in all of this is the amount of counseling that girl and her daughters will need. Hopefully they'll be able to live somewhat of a normal life now.

Yeah, read up a bit on this last night. Pretty crazy to say the least. The heck with the death penalty. Let him go free...just make the news public about where and when he'll be released and give the police the day off. Some times mob justice is the best kind.

The perpetrator and his wife should be locked up for life with no parole possible. Not only did was Jaycee kidnapped, raped repeatedly, and held prisoner for years in apparently primitive conditions, but the kidnappers let her stepfather take a lot of heat as the police suspected him. It all makes one wonder what goes through some people's minds and how they can let themselves be taken over by what is astonishing evil.

Take him and his wife, and drop them off in the mountains of Pakistan somewhere, where they can be justly stoned to death.

I was amazed that she was found alive. And, yep, the death penalty is too good for them.

I read that last night too about her stepfather. It destroyed his marriage and up until yesterday he was still a suspect! Damn shame!!!

This was really hard for both sides. Obviously harder for Jaycee but I also can't imagine what it would be like to be her stepfather and have everyone thinking you did something like that for 18 years. Would almost be like being in prison for a crime you didn't commit.

Exactly! That's one of the bad things about our society. You're supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. Thanks in large part to the media, IMO, we all know that 99.9% of the time someone is guilty until proven innocent.

You're right, it doesn't compare to what Jaycee went through, but I can't imagine someone thinking I did something so despicable to one of my own kids for 18 years!!! My heart goes out to that entire family!

Has little to do with the media and more to do with you and I (and the population at large). People make their judgement right away and say the hell with "innocent until proven guilty". Look at Michael Jackson. Did it or not, he was not convicted...yet read most of the comments made about him ever.

On a side note, The Life of David Gale is an interesting movie about that "idea".

OK, I guess we agreed to many times today. Being that people look to the media to talk about fact, and not personal agendas, you have to admit that the media plays a large roll in shaping the way people think about different things. Not everyone is like you and I and goes to lengths to find out the facts for themselves to form their opinion.

Unfortunately I can't see a happy ending here at all. That poor girl, (well young woman now) her family, and her children will live with this forever.
In an un-perfect world, the best their family could have hoped for has at least finally come true.

No amount of retribution against the dispicable acts perp'd on her will ever change or erase the past. Though personally speaking no amount of torture and pain focused on the couple that kidnapped her will ever be enough.

We'd better stop that! The media has something to do with it to be certain, but the responsibility ultimately lies on us. The media helps form our opinions as much as the company we keep, gossip, life experiences or anything else does.

Well keep positive thoughts. There are a lot of "standup" prisoners in the system and all that has to happen is for a guard to let it out what this guy did when he shows up. He won't last long. Good things can happen in prison.

Michael Jackson got away with being a pedophile, beating the system doesn't make you innocent. He's another guy I would have enjoyed reading about after he went to jail.

    crazy....

yeah, the death penalty can be too good sometimes.

release them into gen pop. murderers and violent criminals are hideous beings, but even they hate a child molester and a rapist. .... they'll get what they deserve in prison.
