Funny thing was my 25 yr. son came in about 2 months and told me he had just heard an awesome NEW song and just had to find the CD. It was "Born to be Wild" by Steppenwolf!!! He couldn't believe I knew the words and it was an old song!! That was hysterical.

Funny how many of the decent songs are samples or covers of old songs. I used to think these things came in cycles. I was wrong. There will never be another 70's and there will only ever be one era when rock came of age. *sigh* I miss my colour striped bell bottom Levis and tie-dye Ts.

Yep. You can only get threads like that in the swankiest boutiques on Fifth Avenue or Rodeo Drive these days. It's true. Ya wouldn't wanna be a megastar and be pulled over by the cops or get shot after hours by the papparazzi in anything less!!!!

Yeah, I know. Just think - if I had kept my threads from that era I could be well off now! Weird, huh??

Just pick up the soundtrack for "Easyrider" , all of them are great road songs. Also, with some of the looks we get on a long roadtrip, Bob Segars "Turn the page" fits as well.

You know what's sad?
Someone puts on an oldie... like when some teeny-bopper did a cover version of Melanie's Lay Down, or the other day when I was watching an old movie and they played Joni Mitchell's Circle Game and words I hadn't uttered for decades just came pouring out. It was sooooo weird.
Like I was voicing anthems that revived a long forgotten era.
What a trip!
Made me wonder how long stuff like that stays in ones head.

Sure was a better world before fundamentalism and terrorism.
We sure know how to screw up a planet.

Here's another road song some of you might remember, I hear this one play in my mind when I'm out for a long ride by myself.
Bob Seger, Turn The Page.

On a long and lonesome highway
East of Omaha
You can listen to the engine
moanin' out his one note song
You can think about the woman
or the girl you knew the night before
But your thoughts will soon be wandering
the way they always do

When you're ridin' sixteen hours
and there's nothin' much to do
And you don't feel much like ridin',
you just wish the trip was through

Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playin' star again
There I go
Turn the page

Well you walk into a restaurant,
strung out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you
as you're shakin' off the cold
You pretend it doesn't bother you

but you just want to explode
Most times you can't hear 'em talk,
other times you can
All the same old cliches,
"Is that a woman or a man?"
And you always seem outnumbered,
you don't dare make a stand

Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playin' star again
There I go
Turn the page

Out there in the spotlight
you're a million miles away
Every ounce of energy
you try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body
like the music that you play
Later in the evening
as you lie awake in bed
With the echoes from the amplifiers
ringin' in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette,
rememberin' what she said

Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playin' star again
There I go
Turn the page

Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playin' star again
There I go
There I go
