Yeah why don't marriage licenses expire every 5 years like a drivers license? Imagine that if things don't work out by then don't renew and simply go yer separate ways with no lawyers involved or costly processes. Oops maybe I shouldn't suggest that otherwise that will put a damper on folks living off alimony huh? he he he...

Oh please, that wouldn't work anyway... how do you go your separate ways after 5 years of accumulating stuff? At some point there will be an argument over who gets the flat screen, and welcome in the attorneys to help break it up... and when they're un successful, then you go to court to let a judge decide. Either way - divorce court.
I'm not afraid of marriage in the least.... I'm afraid of changing my name. I'm afraid of him getting all my stuff if it goes bad (which my last husband made out golden). I'm afraid my hubby will get bored with me... that's what I fear... but not marriage in itself. lol |

He he he yes KC things would definitely be completely different if marriage licenses expired cuz couples would have to keep receipts for assets, and when and if things don't work out they'd have to sell the house and take back what each has put into the mortgage etc. that way neither would feel ripped off by the other in the split. Now that would seem awesome in a perfect world putting the courts and divorce lawyers out of business. Now the biggest monkey wrench in the whole deal is when kids are introduced into the situation, that part there just is no fair way for them unfortunately at least i can't figure out a way that is best for them cuz even at a 50/50 shared custody kids still end up with mom n dad not being together and to them there is no fair deal at that point
