My son will NOT eat soup, or anything liquidy with his meal. I think it has something to do with his sensory disorder, but it bugs the hell out of bret... lol
My son also nibbles his food. He doesn't bite into it, he nibbles at the edges, all around the edges, then will work on the center. I guess I'm desensitized to it, but others will watch him and look at him like he's weird. lol I have to cut all my food up before eating it. Food can't touch each other. Have to eat all of one item before moving on to the next. Save my drink for AFTER the meal is complete. If its a spicy food, I sprinkle Splenda over it. I absolutely cannot use the same fork I used to prepare the food on the plate, or cut the food up. Typically I will go through at least 2 forks a meal. Drives Bret insane!!!!! |

I really don't have a weird food. My dad was a professional chef and my mom is an amazing cook when faced with few ingredients. So, I didn't grow up picky. I LOVE British style fish & chips when I can find it. I absolutely won't touch sweet potatoes or pumpkin.

I like to put peas and stir in an egg when I make ramen noodles. Maple syrup on bacon is good. Honey on chicken Mcnuggets. Hot dogs cut up and fried with home made barbecue sauce..., SARDINES! There are probably alot more but I can't think of them now! |

I was going to put down "maple syrup on French toast" but I thought that was normal Stateside, especially in Canada.
I've just remembered another one. A toasted Mars Bar sandwich done in a sandwich toaster. Or if you're ever in Glasgow, a local delicacy in the local chip shops is deep fried battered Mars Bar.

Popcorn with mustard drizzled over it. Sounds gross, but you should try it. and as NCDAVE said - SCRAPPLE. just think of everything that the butcher throws out when he slaughters a pig, it gets minced up and put in a container. fry it up in a pan......the best breakfast meat ever.!

Peanut butter and chile pepper sandwiches for me. Fresh, not pickled peppers. A habanero right from the garden is best as they have that fruity taste along with the great heat. A lot of asian food has that peanut/chile combo so it's not that strange I guess but my family and friends sure think it
is. I pretty much have hot sauce or hot peppers with everything I eat. I'll grill up some hot peppers with chicken or steak, have a bite of meat with a little hunk of grilled chile, mmmm. I also make my own hot sauces. Right now I have 4 different kinds in my fridge along with a bunch of store bought ones. One whole rack on the door is nothing but hot sauce. I pick certain types to use with certain foods. I'll eat scrapple once in awhile. Have to have it with eggs. Same with corned beef hash. My son is the weird eater here. He won't heat pasta with tomato sauce. He says "I don't like sauce", but he'll eat pizza. Hamburger, cheese steak- anything like that has to be meat, cheese and roll, no condiments. No leafy vegetables but he'll eat broccoli. He's almost 23 now and he's been like that since he was about 5. Sweet potato fries- I'm not a big sweet potato fan when they are prepared like people usually make them, all mashed up with sweet stuff on them, but fries are great. Combined with a mango/habanero hot sauce of course. I also like sweet potatoes in Thai curry, they are a good offset for the heat and the sweetness works it's way into the sauce. I like chile powder on my popcorn too. Usually I have some kind of dry chile mix- hot pepper powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, something like that, laying around and I'll sprinkle that on popcorn.

MMM, good stuff. Nothing like the taste of something that seems like a mix of axle grease, smoke flavoring, and a hint of chile pepper. A little bit goes a long way on toast.
