Installed a lift kit on the Jeep this past weekend. Ran into a few minor "issues", but aside from denting my nose with the ratchet (T. says it looks like I've actually straightened my previously broken nose out a bit) it went off without too much of a hitch.
For what it's worth I purchased a Rough country 2.5" kit with springs, shocks, a rear track-bar relocator, and a front steering stabilizer. Proof that I actually took the Jeep to pieces. (Fingers crossed I would get it all back together properly) ![]() New springs and shocks going in. (I was told by a few guys that one didn't need a spring compressor, but their way no way in Hades I could have got the springs in without one) ![]() Finished project. Not too Redneck, just high enough for me. ![]() ![]()

It's probably just wash from the bolts (which have probably been beaten up over the years from road grit) that hold the liner in. The liners are likely plastic, so they aren't rusting. I have the same thing in my truck.
Rain water gets kicked up, washes the rust off the bolts and the rust stains the plastic liner. At any rate, the Jeep looks good with a little extra height. Last edited by CTRider : 2 Weeks Ago at 11:27 AM. |

Funny thing is until we purchased it, she had spent her entire 9 years of life in the Lower Mainland. The lack of rust underneath is very surprising.
(Of course the front shock tower bolts were rusted solid, so I had to use a very technical, advanced method of removing them...........unblot the bottom and pull until the tops snap off...........

Nice look Carlo. Good stance, but not radical. I gotta get me one of them some day!

There's an awful lot of space between that Jeep and those tires! You'll need to find something to fill that in.
I just went with the 2" spacers for mine, and I used a slightly less technical method for the front shocks....a reciprocating saw. ![]()

The 31"s are brand new so it will be awhile before we need to look at tires again. By then I may be able to convince the finance dpet. manager that 33"s would be "more suitable"........ ![]()

Looks stock. I like! I prefer a mild lift like that over anything else. You don't sacrifice ride quality for ground clearance. Congratulations on a job well done.
