Thumbs up Friendly American Bikers

We just got back from a great 3 day long weekend south of the border. (will post pictures from the trip later).
The one thing that is sticking in my memory from this past weekend is the unbelievable friendly nature of any and all bikers we ran into. (not to mention pretty much everyone we came into contact with was very accomodating and friendly)

I would have to say that 95% of all riders we passed on our trip waved. At least 60% of those were riding Harleys. We had conversations with a lot of folks on Harleys, some came up and just started chatting for no reason.

Why am I even mentioning this. Well for one, sometimes you guys (Americans) get a bad rap. I just want to say Thank You for the level of hospitality shown by all we met.
Secondly, up here in BC we have more than our share of Wannabe Bikers. I would reckon that maybe 1 in 10 guys on a Harley returns a wave around here.
My gal and I were both surprised at the biker comrodarie shown while we were in Wenatchee and the surrounding areas.

Can't wait to get down there again for the next ride.

I'll see if I can either live up to those high expectations or reconfirm the snooty american attitude when you pop in for a visit this weekend.

really tho, i'm glad you had a great time. how is the gal doing on her road work?

I was, as you know, in leavenworth on saturday, man it was hot!

coincidence?

Last year our good friend Carlo came south of the border on an excursion and upon his return to his mother land there was a wild fire raging in eastern washington. Flash forward a year and again our man from Penticton was in Eastern Washington for a weekend of "fun" and upon his return north of the border, there is AGAIN a wildfire raging in Eastern Washington. In Wenatchee of all places.

carlo, you got some splainin to do?

Trike, you should make a real trip down south - say Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida way. Everyone will be waving at ya - although some may be the one-fingered kind!

Seriously though, glad ya'll were treated so well in our fair country.

In the Midwest, I would say we have about an 80% chance of someone waving. Almost all cruiser guys (including Harleys) wave. Maybe 66% of the sport bikes wave, and maybe 66% of the tourer guys (like on Goldwings) wave. I really enjoy that level of comraderie like you mentioned.

Hey dont start any rumors that Americans are nice, you'll just make more of your friendly Canadians to come to see if it's true.

Thumbs up Update.

Well we spent amother weekend south of the Border. And once again, were pleasantly surprised by the friendly nature of 99.9% of riders. We did run into a bunch of "cool" bikers at the gas station on their American V-Twins in Tonasket who were obviously too cool to say hello or return a smile. (I believe they were all caught up in the "I am too cool for my own skin" effects of having been to Sturgis)
Anyway, when we got to the border and crossed back into Canada who was behind us? Yes, these "too cool" bikers from BC. So i am happy to report that for your sake at least, they don't belong to you.
