Al, I would definitely recommend the Caberg modular, and Scorpion EXO 100 half helmet. I own both, and they are great.

The waste that I have see in just the last 5 years specifically pertaining to the mindless destruction of parts, pieces and whole motorcycles in the name of "Customization" just makes me ill .

I do agree with this sentiment. Those old bikes are not an endless resource. Here's where i draw the line, and I have said so on the cb750c and bobberforums: if the bike is essentially in good condition it needs to be restored not transformed. There have been a couple of examples that I thought it was a true shame to see them cut, and I said so. On the otherhand, if the bike is a basket case beyond restoration, then I do not see a problem. The latter is what I look for.

My biggest complaint beyond the initial condition question is seeing the same old copy cat crap that people are doing, boring, and the end result adds literally nothing. My last *****in' points with people starting these projects is that they either don't finish at all, or the final product is just crap, no finesse, no skills, no vision.

OK, I gotta give this soapbox back to the guy I borrowed it from.

I would think it would depend on the model of bike in question as well - bikes that are more commonplace and of newer vintage tend to be plentiful (duh) and some of those, even in mint condition, I don't feel any heartbreak over seeing chopped, cut, or modified. A couple that come to mind are the EX250 and the CMX250.

Still, though, on classic, truly collector's bikes, I can see the distaste for seeing them chopped up and modified. One bike that comes to mind that I think should be restored even if it is a basket case is the Kawasaki H2A.

Another example of classic bikes getting butchered that bugs me are the classic Harleys that are converted into choppers. It just makes no sense to me why anyone would take and do that to a classic Harley - I would think it would detract from the intrinsic value of the motorcycle, let alone the collector's value of the bike.

Guess it's all a matter of personal taste.

Here's the way I'd like to do up a CBX, provided it's not mint when I start with it:

CBX Street Fighter - Cycle Forums: Motorcycle and Sportbikes Forum

Shoulda picked a different example. I love the result, but the guy chopped up a nice CBX to do it!

Man, that CBX has a primordial scream that elicits feelings of fear and intimidation in all who might challenge it!

Ah, the 'Busa. The pinnacle of motorcycling thus far and the bike that inspired the ZX-14.

Yeah, I really like the Hayabusa too ! I want one of those too ! I sound like I'm in a donut shop ! I want one of those, and one of those, and one of those there ! LMAO ! Kind of sad, I'll probably spend my money on something more practical, like a house. That don't sound like much fun though. LOL !

A house? Where you shopping at? I've seen a LOT of 'Busas for under $8K, I've spotted a rare one or two for under $6K.
