In concert, you just kind of watched with your mouth hanging open. No one would move, because what he was doing seemed impossible. He is now long gone, very sad. I recommend the double album "Live from the Double PLanet", amazing.

    Hey gang!
Just got back from an AWESOME moonlite midnight ride!!
Hands hurt like hell from the cold, and I had to cut the ride short cause of it. But MAN I forgot just how much I luv those rides!!!!! On the brighter side of the news, seems the socket/riser trick has made the difference for me being able to ride more than 70 kms! YAY! Now if I can fix the 'broken butt' issue, I will be golden for a decent road trip or two this year

Was playing this tonight (wish I could play Utube ) the song is awesome!
Somebody post the tune for me eh?

    "Better Days"

85 miles out of Nashville, thinking about the way things change
Try an keep it by the reigns
I'm a lone drifter, big money flipper
Take anything you got on the rocks in a snifter
I missed her in Kentucky, went down to Louisiana
I never had no loving like I had in Alabama
A man of my word and out to hurt nobody
I'm just a MC to keep the boogie in the party
Been sittin lodi dodi since 84 and
I'll be sitting lodi dodi till I'm eighty four
I couldn't ask for more, life's been sweet
So you can save the planet I'll save your seat

I've been gone for weeks, I ain't slept in days
I can't find myself in this self made maze
It's been so long since I've been fine
I'm just trying to see the bottom of this bottle of wine
And I know I'll see better days
Well I know you'll see things my way

I never thought about change until
Spend a little time where time stood still
Been looking for a mill, but I keep coming up shy
I been a broke fool, I ain't trying to be that guy
Wanna ride like lightning, roll like thunder
I'm trying to get some money I ain't getting any younger
At times I wonder at, at times I won't
    Sometimes I give a f'ck, but most times I don't
    Don't, don't even care
Through stained glass windows these eyes stare
I try to stay straight but it's kicking my ***
Everytime I look ahead I get a glimpse of the past
I sit half mass like a soldier's flag
That's why my left leg limp's and my ****ies sag
It's been so long since I've been fine
I'm just trying to see the bottom of this bottle of wine
And I know I'll see better days
Well I know you'll see things my way
And I know I'll see better days
Well I know you'll see things my way

Well I been all around this crooked land
I came across all walks, I shook Jim Beam's hand
I got no plans and no place to go
It keeps getting harder to just say no
I see the people laugh and people cry
That's how some live and that's how some die
Well me, myself I'm gonna sit right here
And I'm a watch this this world break down in tears
All my fears and dark gray skies
Couldn't crack my smile or break my stride
Got too much pride, I got too much shout
I might be down, but I still ain't out
Got to much time and that's all I have
When I leave this world I'll still be sad
It's been so long since I've been fine
I'm just trying to see the bottom of this bottle of wine
And I know I'll see better days
Well I know you'll see things my way
And I know I'll see better days
Well I know you'll see things my way

Well that's me done for the night! Thank gawd for Voltaren

Hoping to get in a couple of hundred km's tomorrow if the 'fixed' left hand holds out. Then I will really be able to tell if I'm good to go!

    Have an awesome hump day!

Just wait until your fingers get some calous and you will be able to play a LONG time before your fingers start to hurt Make sure you do your finger stretches every day

I'll take your word for it - these bass strings definitely take some pressure to get them not to rattle

Bass strings are very big too. Just make sure you are using your finger tips and not the fatty pad of your finger to prevent buzzing other strings. I played guitar for probably 6 years now so Ive got some pretty nice build-up on all my fingers. I use the neck of my guitar to stretch my index and middle finger and middle and ring finger so I have a little more reach, especially nice when playing blues/jazz

Yup, I definitely focus pressure on the tips. I couldn't imagine trying to use the pads as I'd imagine it to be pretty sloppy.

Most of what I've learned has come simply from watching the pros do it - I always saw them using their finger tips so I generally mimic their actions and the result is decent. I've only been playing for a few months and in recent weeks I've taken an extended break from guitar playing as I've been pretty busy with other things, so I'm taking advantage of the break I've got now to get some more playing in.

So, you've got my curiosity up, what type of stretching do you do before playing? I'm still brand new at doing this kind of thing, so you'll have to bear with me.

Its something that my guitar teacher told me to try. I just push the neck of the guitar between my index and middle finger spreading it apart as far as possible for about a minute or two then move it to my middle and ring finger.

Just hold the guitar like you are going to play it and use the back of the neck to spread your fingers and try to hold it when you take off the neck. Its just a little warm up trick that I found to be helpful, especially when you need 3 fingers and your in first and third frets and you dont have the pinky strength to fret a string
