My parents are 75 and 74 now and still doing pretty good, but it's only a matter of time until they're gone and I become the oldest generation. That's a really weird feeling. It's just life, and it happens to everyone. But sometimes I look at my parents and am shocked at how old they look. Then I look in the mirror and am shocked at how old *I* look! Then I look at my 30-year-old son, and I KNOW I'm old! I'm not a grandmother yet, though...
Julie, I have 3 grandkids, I love them to death. Trust me they make you feel young so its great to have them. I didn't used to think that way, but they changed my mind. You'll enjoy them when you get them.
RIP My good Friend Deron I'll miss you.

I know, Norm. I'm dying to have grandchildren, and my kids are more than old enough to give me some (my sons are 30 and 27). But I don't think it's going to happen. Things could change, but I'd be really, REALLY surprised if either son ever had children. I try not to think about it or I get really sad. Maybe things will change, but in the meantime I have to live vicariously through my friends who have grandchildren.

My little sister had her first child not quite six years ago, after being married almost 20 years. There's such a huge age difference between our children that I've always felt more like a grandmother than an aunt to her little boy. I'm absolutely nuts about him. But two years ago she and her husband moved to England, so now I don't get to see him very often.

    Poor me.

OK. I'll stop with the pity party now.

and don't forget, when they are someone else's kids you can spoil them and send them back when you get tired of them.

I work from home. Right now, an hour after I started "working," I'm sitting in bed under the warm covers with my laptop. That aspect of it is really great. But Dave's right. You *do* miss the human interaction. Maybe that's why we both post during the day when we're supposed to be working.

I'll leave the first part alone but the second; you don't consider this better? no one around stabing you in the back at the office.
