Assuming it's the same stuff that chrome-color headlight buckets, turn signals, and sidecovers are painted with- yes, it should hold up under heat as well as regular paint does. I wouldn't go painting your engine block or exhaust headers, though...

Ive used some metalic gold paint in the past that reflected well. I don't see why you couldn'thave chrome.

not sure I would want chrome reflecting at me from a tank

I know nothing about painting but that looks like he used a lot of paint on that hood.

I don't either. But, I do know that the more paint you use, the shinier the look. I would say, that based upon the airbrush he is using, it isn't as much as you think. Those thing use a lot of air, and take a long time to do.
