Default Mule 550 keeps stalling out when shifting into gear

I have a 550 mule KAF300C. It runs fine until you put it in gear. The engine cuts off as soon as you put it in gear. Nobody in Atlanta, GA knows how to fix it. Can anyone help? Thanks, Kurt

it sounds like you have problems with the ctuching. Either the drive clutch is stuck shut or the driven is stuck open.

Hi, I'm having the same problem with my EX500. It just came back form the shop and runs great... until you put it into gear. It doesn't even feel like it's pulling on me. It just dies like I hit the kill switch. I was thinking my clutch was too tight, but I thought I would feel it pulling on me.

Any ideas?

Since the Mule has a cetrifugal clutch, you won't feel it pull until the engine accelerates.
My Mule (I've had it for 9 years now) does the same thing until it has reached operating temps. So for the first several minutes of operation, I keep the choke closed JUST A LITTLE. I will often choke it a bit more (like an automotive automatic choke) the first few times start into motion.
After the engine reaches operating temp, I keep the choke wide open after that.

Of course I grew up driving tractors and motorcycles with manual chokes so driving the Mule, with the manual choke came pretty much second nature.
