Default I raised great kids.......

Spent Saturday at my sisters with all my side of the family. What a bunch of uncaring group of people. My kids were NEVER rude to anyone (other than their mom and me, but not in front of others). My son, who was wounded in Iraq wasn't able to make it and thank God he wasn't there. The other family members are mean to each other and don't care if they hurt someone else's feelings. Course talk came to the Iraq war and stuff. I wanted to ..... but instead said "Goodbye, I can't take this BS anymore" and left. My kids are the most caring kids. They would NEVER EVER behave in such a manner. Sorry, just had to vent.

Failure to vent properly can lead to explosion.

I've noticed a decline in the lack of respect among people in general over the past few years...........pretty sad actually.

thanks guys. My kids told me yesterday (Father's day) how proud they are I am their dad. Blew me away. I thought I pretty much sucked as a dad. At least when they were teenagers they gave that impression.

Hey, I thought my parents sucked when I was a teen. I mean they wouldn't let me drink, smoke pot.........made me do my homework, convinced me to get a part time job.

At the time I thought the kids with parents that let them do pretty much anything they wanted were "cool."..............You know the kids, the ones now either dead or in prison.

I couldn't ever thank my parents enough for the job they did bringing me up.

I come from a family of 16 kids. I have 10 sisters and 5 brothers. My dad was a captain(skipper) on a fishing boat that was a sea for 10 days and home for only 2. So my mom pretty much raised us all. We all turned out decent people and it's all because of my mom's (and dad's) unconditional love cause I'm sure we were all a bunch of sh!t heads at some point in time. I can't wait till my daughter tells me that I'm the best. Course she is only 8 months old but I can wait.

Yup, most of the time lack of parental decipline = lack of self decipline = lack of self respect = lack of respect for others.

Hadn't looked at it that way but by george there Dr Spok, it sure looks like it, eh!

I know there sure seemed to be a lot more respect going around when you could get paddled at school & then would definitely get another at home. Now there's no consequence for anything & people wonder what's wrong with people! Duh?!

Ah, the Great American Family Reunion.

Just had one of those back at the beginning of the month. It's been 10 years since my family (mom and 3 brothers + families) have been congregated in the same state together - the last time being at my dad's funeral. Thankfully, we didn't have any blow-outs ...it was actually a fairly undramatic event, but we don't have any drama queens in our family either. The worst we have is a couple of borderline narcissists ...they just don't care about anything else except for what's happening in their own universe.

Well, you can't help but love the whole lot of them ...they are family, after all.

Many many many years ago I was at a buddies home and I grew weary of how his kids behaved towards me. Both were young, under 10, and he allowed them to cut me down just say whatever they wanted. We went out into the garage and I brought it up and he told me, tough poop dude, so I punched him in the mouth. I think we should all punch parents of brats in the mouth. Trust me, they'll discipline their children quickly
