Default Kind of an off-color question (ladies be warned!)

Do any of you guys wear a cup or some kind of protection when riding? No, I am not referring to your standard 8oz drinking glass. I am asking because after riding around for two weeks now, I have noticed that I get quite uncomfortable at stops or on bumpy roads. Yeah....

Sit back from the tank so you have some distance. Then to hold your seating position, use your legs and squeeze against the tank or frame.

You don't by any chance ride a 636, do you? That tank is indeed a nutcracker.

No cup should be necessary. Eventually you develop enough callous down there to lose all sensation until riding becomes bearable. To accelerate the process ask some of your friends to kick you repeatedly while wearing riding boots. It's excrutiating at first, but riding is worth it, right?

P.S. Either that or try a different saddle or bike.

Actually, girls suffer too. Try riding a 'Z" - I call it the "coochie crusher". Because of its shape and angle, it slopes you toward the tank, and let me tell you, it is so uncomfortable after an hour of riding.

....

Well I found a solution. I now support myself during stops with my legs instead of my butt. It works quite well, I dont slide anywhere and my wrists dont get sore!

I shaved down the seat on my 500R so I could comfortably sit further away from the tank. It helps, but every once in awhile the boys get a reminder from the gas tank.

What you need is a "Nut Protector" you can get one at any decent Motorcycle dealer. I've used one for years and haven't had a problem.

LOL That's hysterical. Good steal!

My ex-husband was an avid bicyclist. He used to have a lot of problems in that area. We owned a tandem, and he'd have to stand up every 15 or 20 minutes to make adjustments and would always be numb by the time we got home from a ride. Of course, a motorcycle seat is quite different than a bicycle saddle!

My husband hasn't complained about this problem at all--either on his Beemer or on his FJR. He's a small guy, though (I'm talking about his heigth, guys, not that other place--he's 5'7" ), so that might be part of the reason.

As for me, I'm so comfortable on my stock Vulcan 1500 Classic seat that I can ride for hours with no discomfort.

Something that helps me out on road trips is a pair of bicycling shorts with a gel pad insert. I wear them instead of cotton underwear. They are comfortable, they wick moisture away from your body, and the lycra/spandex supports your leg muscles to reduce fatigue. They can be a bit pricey, but, hey, how much is your comfort worth?
