I have NO desire to live anywhere near the NE part of the country. For several reasons, including what you have just mentioned.

Glad to here I'm not the only "Queen of Darkness" in this forum.
I work 1500-0330, 3-4 nights a week. I come home hop on the forum and catch up for an hour. Go to sleep around 5 am, wake up at 7 am (kids gotta go to school). Get back to bed and hope the lawnmower or leafblower guys are not coming early. Oh, s***, it's the mailman, and now the dogs are barking. Go yell at dogs to SHUT UP, go lay down! Get back into bed again, ****ed off now cause I know I need to get a few more hours of sleep. Then,
SLEEEEEPPPP! BEEP, BEEP, BEEP. Time to get up and start the day Ambien is my friend though, it helps me convert from nights to days when I have a stretch of time off.

A good LOUD box fan in your room would be your friend too. I know all about it.

Tina came up with the idea of listening to nature sounds to help me go to sleep. I did find one that is hard to go to sleep to though. Electrifying thunderstorms, nice rolling thunder then CLASH, BOOM!!! I was almost asleep till then.

It helps with the ringing in my ears trying to go to sleep too.

At this point I dont bother converting to days when I have time off... it messes me up too much when I have to go back to work . I feel for you though, your schedule sounds brutal!

I wouldn't mind nights into days so much if I wasn't sitting in front of a computer all night, then in meetings all day. From one kinda boring job to listening to " I think if we added this and changed this and moved this or made this different..........." Just glad I get a couple hours for lunch to sneek in a power nap.

Ya, I have a vornado fan and it's on high! I also had my bedroom window replaced with this super window that is supposed to cut down on noise significantly. My problem is I'm a light sleeper. My husband always makes fun of me. He says I have the hearing of a dog. I'll be like, "What is that?", can you hear that?" If it's in the house I'll go hunt down the source, otherwise it will drive me insane.

Well, I'm going to get ready for my 12 or so hours of chaos and insanity in the ER! I'll be thinking about the rest of you, my fellow RIDER'S OF DARKNESS.
