No cell phone... both hands on the wheel, but gramma isn't even looking.

How about this one, shot about 3 miles from my office:

I've seen another one like that that goes by so fast, most people don't even see the red-light runner on the first viewing.

You think this one pulled in the McDonald's to change his pants?

Where's that video of a downtown square in India where it looks like absolute chaos, but no one gets hit?

Ha Ha I know....I've been there, done that!!! I learned riding/driving in India under similar traffic. When I came here for grad school it was a little difficult with all the order
Do you know that chaos is the best system for regulating traffic in natural systems? Just like ants!!!

Default red light scameras

was gonna start a new thread but there are some interesting links in this one...

even in a time where cities are scrambling for revenue, my town of Huntington Beach did a study and has smartly decided against installing red light cameras. yay! that's one for we the people. hope this starts a trend.

Huntington Beach rejects red-light cameras - Los Angeles Times
The cameras have become controversial in recent years, taking photos of drivers who run red lights, with the proof -- and the ticket -- arriving in the mail. Backers say the cameras improve safety and bring cities needed revenues.

But Ken Small, Surf City's police chief, isn't so sure.

He told the Huntington Beach City Council this week that adding cameras at intersections around the city could increase the number of rear-end accidents. And, he noted, the revenue from the red-light devices would not even be enough to pay for the cameras.

Ever drive in some other countries that have that? I have and know why...you HAVE to pay attention. There's no relaxing there or you're toast!

As for Rich's vid...HOLY CRAP! Agreed...he needed to play the lottery...you can't get much closer than that!

And the first one? Just more proof that more testing needs to be done throughout a persons life. We spent a lot of time fighting the legal system to have Crysti's grandmother's license taken away. We first took her to get her eyes tested where we watched the idiot behind the counter HELP her with it. And the manager backed her up saying that's what they do! How quickly people forget that driving (like MOST things) is a priveledge and a responsibility, not a right.

While I'm not necessarily the biggest proponent of this (due to chances of not gettnig the right person, etc), I don't have that much of an issue with it.

Why? I'm not interested in breaking the law, particuarly ones that put people in direct danger. As such, I fail to see how it's "one for the people" versus just one for law breakers who don't wish to suffer the consequences of their poor decisions.

The trick there's doing in Plano is after they install the cameras, they simultaneously shorten the amount of time the yellow light stays yellow.
