Yea it hurts like all hell! Never been shot in the back, but I tell ya It feels bad! Hope you are doing ok now!
I had to wait inline at the hospitol for three hours and all they gave me is vicadin and it did not even touch the pain. The reason I had to wait so long is because of all the mex's in for their freebies. The only time in my life if I had a gun I would have gone postal, and I would not have even cared. Thats how damn bad it hurts. And I normanally can handle pain, nothing new, until the dreded KIDNEY STONE!

I've had them and I'd prefer a swift kick in the groin rather than EVER HAVE ONE AGAIN.You have my complete sympathy and prayers until its gone. Definitely take in all the water you can. My most sincere hope its over soon for you.

I had one and compared the pain to someone sticking a pool stick in on you till it hurts, then leaving it there.
That was 5+years ago and decaf-tea, more water and cranberry juice occcasionaly.

Surely it will pass by then. Did they tell you any changes to make in your diet to prevent them, or is it just hereditary?

Now you need to get a big coffee can and a lid, and a drink a whole lot more water from now on! Sitting in a truck all day is hard on your body, so drink and pee to your hearts content.
Condom catheter and a tube run out of the cab down to the back of the frame with a quick disconnect at the cuff that can be tucked into your boot.

I use something similar when scuba diving wearing a dry suit.
Can't pee in a drysuit like you can a wetsuit.

Stones are actually caused by a calcium deficeincy from what I've read. Might want to include more bananas in your diet as well as the extra fluids. Good luck! It's not pleasant.

A few years ago I knew a girl who was in her early 20's back then and she said that all of the sudden she hit the ground writhing in pain. Found out at the hospital that it was a kidney stone. She said that it felt like someone stabbed her with an ice pick...from the inside; she swore that giving birth will be easier when it happens. The girl always drank at least 2 litres of distilled water every day, something about regular water and some of the bottled tap water having too much calcium in it.

Not hard to imagine at all! I had several attacks a a couple years ago, and one was 8mm! They said any larger and it was knife time. After going to the emergency room in an ambulance I think four times, they scheduled me for a session where you sit in a puddle of conducting fluid (that made the electrical engineer part of me pay SERIOUS attention until they explained it was to conduct sound waves!) and shot sound pulses to break them up. They said it usually takes about 300-350 pulses. (I had about a dozen just waiting) but wound up being 3500! Talk about ya monkey butt!!
I kept having one every few months no matter what the doctors had me do, until an Indian Dr saw me drinking a coke. He said that was what was causing them, the combination of caffeine and carbonization. I was a coke-aholic! About 6-10 a day! I don't think I ever had a picture taken (even at my retirement!!) without a coke in my hand! I even got them for Christmas presents!

All the other Dr's said it had nothing to do with it. He was just a GP, and they were specialists. Who should I believe? Wrong. Kept having them, so I stopped my half case a day habit, and didn't have one for 6 months. Started drinking Tropicana Orangeade (still am). Only thing I could find I could stand! One day the store ran out, so I had just 2 SMALL cokes all day. That night I was in the emergency room with the 8mm one! Haven't had a coke since, NOR any more stones, though x-rays show they are still there, just not coming out to play. That was almost two years ago. I quit listening to specialists or anyone who "knows better" about ANYTHING about then! Strangely enough, fountain cokes don't bother me at all. Mostly water and little carbonation, I guess. Try it. Nothing to lose once you start passing 'em, but NOT doing it again!
Paul
I really HOPE you don't have any more! I been run over, shot, $hit at and hit, kicked by horses, thrown out of airplanes, and generally abused, and I would do ALL of those again rather than even an ITTY BITTY stone again!!!

I've always lead an above average healthy life style. Back in 05 when I hit the big 5-0, my "mandatory" physical and follow up, showed signs of the dreaded old guys disease. I'm a firm believer in "cleansings". I do a regiment every year, and I'm currently 10 days into a 30 day "master cleanse" juice fast. The stuff I do, is not for everybody, but, I thought I'd forward one of the sites that got me started and give you some food for thought.
Good luck!

Ouch! Sounds like a boulder.

Rich, the whole wet suit thing falls under the "Too much Information Act of 1989"! LOL

It begs the question if sharks are attracted to blood. Then what is attracted to urine?
