Chuck Norris on Oprah

Many of you have probably heard of the book and class that Oprah has been greatly pushing lately. I believe that Chuck Norris' review of this book is very nicely put and I hope that those of you who are fans of Oprah's will be very cautious of what you listen to from her and the people that she hires to present this kind of teaching. If you don't watch her but you know others who do, please pass this along and just delete what I have written here.




In an article titled 'Oprah's New Easter,' Chuck Norris has weighed in on the Eckhart Tolle book and Oprah's related online course called A New Earth. Chuck nicely summarizes the tenets of Tolle's belief system, with this evaluation:

Like most self-help spiritual texts of this type, it is a blend of half-truths and half-fabrications. One easily could save the purchase price of 'A New Earth' -- and subsequently avoid its misleading remarks -- by reading the Bible, which gives a much more thorough and accurate picture of life's purpose and the methods for overcoming its obstacles.... The reason Tolle's psychology and spirituality is marketed so easily is that it is an eclectic mix of conventional and unconventional wisdom, and Western and Eastern beliefs, presented in a tolerant, non-threatening and nonsectarian way. In other words, it's 'Religion Lite', in which one can be spiritual with little down and no credit.
I have long thought that Oprah Winfrey is one of the most dangerous women in America. She's intelligent, funny, charming, charismatic, dynamic, persuasive, and generous, but she is using those qualities to promote a worldview that is anti-Biblical to the core. Every time I see her on TV, I think of how the devil disguises himself as an angel of light. If it's true that she once believed in Christ, then I can only lament how she has fallen away from her first love, and how she is leading so many others astray. She needs our prayers that she will return to Jesus, and then turn her considerable talents back to serving Him instead of a false teacher like Tolle.

I don't know who this Tolle guy is and don't really care, but what is so wrong about someone expressing their views about not believing in any religion or God, whether it's Christianity or otherwise. Is that not what the concept of a free country is about. The right to not only choose what to believe (or not believe in), and the right to voice that opinion?

Why is someone (anyone) considered dangerous for standing up and voicing an opinion on their beliefs, or lack of any beliefs?

People are dying every day in foregin countries (many of them young Canadian and American soldiers) to help give those individuals the right to choose, and the right to voice their opinion. And here we are, all wrapped up in our Rights and Freedoms........though we seem to take the actual concept of this forgranted.

Personally, I couldn't care less whether an individual chooses to belief in a religion, or a God, or not. What I care about is that I am always afforded that right.

How is being anti-biblical any worse than how so many Christians force their beliefs on others or if they don't do that, look down on those who do? You can replace "Christian" and "bible" with any other similar faiths.

Also, please note that I do not think is is how all Christian, etc are. However, it is very prevalent in many, many followers of faith be it subtle or blatant.

I am a Christian, and I can tell you, in my 38 years, I have never seen another Christian "force" their beliefs on anyone. It is our duty to make sure everyone knows about Christianity.
This country was founded on freedom to worship God however we feel. It was not founded for people to use it as a place to delete God.
Once again, believe what you wish. It is only my duty as a Christian to let you know that my belief is there is one way to heaven, and that is through my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

It's the same old arguements that we always get into here on the forum about almost every topic that comes up. Instead of picking on someone for what they said, either ignore it (becuase it will go away in a short time) or state YOUR opinion and move on.

Maybe we should all have our positions on all the topics in our tag liines and then we won't have to keep posting them!

Sorry guys...not trying to offend anyone on either side. Just makes me sigh heavily and shake my head, because we all know where it leads.....nowhere!

ok....I'm going to pick on you a bit. I'm certainly not a Christian scholar, but something I've studied at least a bit. I don't believe I agree with you about your point that Christ is the ONLY way to heaven. If I remember correctly, I believe the bible states that it is the SURE way to heaven. My interpretation is that there are other ways, but if you want to be SURE, you should go with the big guy! thoughts?

As I stated, this is not something from everyone who believes in one faith or the other, but it does occur and is much more obvious when you're on the discriminatory receiving end of it.
