Well it sounds like you are trying real hard to start one. He was probably joking about his wife getting mad anyway. Don't know if your married or not, But if you have never made her mad at you then you have accomplished a feat no other man has .LOL

Nice. I just turned 21 today, and the gun show is tomorrow. Good timing or what?

Your comments are not exactly what one would call helpful, or on topic even and they are more like you are trying to pour gas on a fire while calling it water thinking we are stupid enough to believe you. Now go sit in the corner and play with your tinker toys little boy....................

Question: and PLEASE take this as meant, DON'T take it for anything other than a question from someone that does not know. There is NO intent other than learning something
Hope that that was a clear enough disclaimer..... What is the purpose of owning a gun like that? Is it something cool to look at and polish....do you take it to a range and shoot the !@!@ out of stuff. remember this is coming from a canadian, and we would not be able to purchase a gun like that without major effort or a "friend" in the know.

Because they're cool. You can add all sorts of nifty & functional things to them. They're reliable because a lot of them have to function on battlefields. They're accurate because they have to kill people on the battlefield. They can be broken down and cleaned extremely easily.
There are lots of reasons but the best I could think of is because we can. I take my AR to the range and shoot the **** out of it regularly, in fact here's a picture of my brother putting some lead down range. ![]() ![]()

Lots of "reasons" for owning one of the GSG5's least of one is it's cheap to shoot, ya can buy a box of 550 rounds of ammo for less than $12.00 and spend the day having fun shooting up crap Now the style is a classic style and unless we are rich and can afford a pre 86 MP5 this is the closest we poor can ever get to owning a MP5 & the MP5 is one of those weapons that has a feeling to it that's so unique and charismatic it's hard to describe, but it's there! The American mindset is somewhat different than the Canadian one when it comes to weapons as Canada does not have a 2nd Amendment and still lives under the Crown in many ways. Now having said that we don't "need" a purpose to own a firearm, just like nobody "needs" 2 (or more) cars, 4 wheel drive trucks, motorcycle's , snowmobile's, campers and RV's and other fun toys let alone a HUGE house with more bedroom than people. It's a fun "toy", a great learning "toy" and something the entire family can go out and have fun with.

Something like that? Functionally, something to take to the range and have some fun with. A 9mm will cost you around $16-$20 for 100rds with the Winchester value packs from Wally World, but you have to be careful, I've had a few jams with them as sometimes the casing has a lip at the edge, but regardless, the 22 is much cheaper to "play" with.
Only a dummy doesn't take his primary defense weapon to the range and maintain proficiency with it, and while practice with this type of weapon is totally different than a serious hunting rifle like a 30-06 or a personal-defense weapon like a 1911 or a Glock... practice is still practice. My buddy's primary weapon is a 1911, but with the .45 being so expensive to fire, he buys a half dozen boxes of 9mm rounds when we go to the desert and "plinks" with my Springfield XD. He likes it so much he is considering one for his wife, and thinking about getting the .45 ACP version for himself because it's so much lighter and easier to handle than his 1911.
