yea, you've got the most of it.
basically you give them your email address (with your account) and that's how they will send you the money. or if you're buying, you'd get their email address and send them the money..pretty basic.

eBay provides sellers with a very automated way of accepting payments by Paypal. It is when paying outside of eBay that it's a bit different and Lil_Ninja has provided the key to the system--the Paypal registered email address.

I've used Paypal and eBay for some time without issue. Like everything else there are those who have a story to tell about either or both. I'm a bit concerned by the fact that eBay bought Paypal a few years ago. I'm not sure what other payment brokers they allow a seller to use.

Set up a separate bank account for the PayPal. If there is a dispute, PayPal has been known to freeze part/all of your account.

^ Very good point and one I completely forgot to mention. I found a bank in town that offers totally free checking with no minimum balance and use it exclusively for Paypal and online payments. I put money in that account as needed. My paycheck goes into another account in another bank and is not setup for any kind of online or other automatic access. There is no tie between the two.

Any action you can take to minimize any potential damage will serve you well.

Make sure you don’t buy anything gun related with pay-pal. They'll freeze your account so fast it'll make your head spin

Again, I didn't know this. How & Why???

I've done a lot of business through Ebay & Paypal without incident but I sure don't want to be vulnerable to some potential heavy handed bad hair day IRS escapee biotch! Been there, done that!

Really? I believe it, but how do they justify that?

The owners of pay-pay are big time anti-gun people. They also own E-Bay.

Yup, nothing gun related on eBay. On the plus side it gives sites like gunbroker.com a chance.

A bit of Google searching will reveal some interesting Paypal stories.

I had that happen to me, so I ceased all biz with Paypal and told them to GFY. Since then I've scaled down my e-bayism too.......I only buy hard to find M/C parts there now.

Same here. That and you really can't find any good deals on stuff anymore. If you do find a good deal they get you on the shipping.

Be careful of the "Verified" label, too. It means nothing!
One of the times I got burned, the seller was "Verified". Never got product or refund. If "verified" seller closes his account, you're screwed.
