Why not? It's still got a backseat. What is everyone's obsession with 4 doors these days? I'm an old fat guy with two small boys, but I've never had a problem getting them in and out of my Wrangler. Heck, my parents had 7 children, and I can remember my Mom driving Mustangs, T-Birds, a Cougar, an Elite, even a two door Lincoln Town Coupe - Wow, were those doors big! - but we all managed to get through it just fine. Why pay for a car you don't like just because you have kids? Live a little, it's OK.
I'm only 47 years old, unless it's a Town Car or a crew cab pickup, there's no way I'm ready for a 4 door yet!

Well the good news is that here shortly, you'll be able to get the Challenger SE with a 3.5 V6 for $21995.00. I went to the Dodge website and made my pic....a white 2009 SE. A V6 is fine with me! I don't need no stinking gas hog Hemi.

With one of those, you'll definately be able to knock someone up, it just might not be your wife...lol. Hell, I was made in the back of a 2dr muscle car and look how I turned out.

I'm still holding out! With the carseat rear facing, it's really easy to just put him in through the back window. As a young fat guy, I don't think it's going to be easy putting him in through the passenger door and into the carseat. But, I love my Jeep, and it's definately worth the hassle. Except for when my wife tells me I have to pick him up and I don't have the doors, or top on, and no carseat.

If you've got kids, you just have to accept the fact that the car seat goes wherever you go, just in case. I can't tell you how many comments I got last year at the PA Jeep show, with the car seat strapped into the front seat of the Scrambler. People loved it. As for the top off, kids love convertibles, though I admit I leave the doors on to appease the wife.
I just don't know why people now think a 4 door is an obligatory part of parenthood. Yeah, getting in and out is a little easier, but once they're in it's all the same. Isn't a little extra effort worth it, if it means driving the car you want?

My dad always had a station wagon, he was a rual route mail carrier. You had your choice of the back seat or the back, back area!

Yes, cars had seat belts, but no one used them. Actually, it was the first thing my dad did when getting a new vehicle was to cut them out.

He's only 10mos old, so no top is not an option yet. When he's older and can take the wind and such. I got a carseat that matches my red and black wet okole seat covers, so it does look kinda cool. The problem is, when it's in there is no room in the front seat for a passenger.

I would imagine 4drs would be better in the event of an accident. Just a guess, but it may be easier for the first responders to get the kids out of the back in a 4dr. You ever look at the prices on the 4dr Wranglers? I walked through one lot, and said, If I ever pay $36K for a Wrangler, I'm going to drive out to the middle of the woods, and shoot myself in the middle of my forehead. I payed $26K for mine, but justified it by it having Dana 44s and a 6spd. I remember saying the YJs were for yuppies, then the TJ, now, I have to say the KJ takes the yuppie cake. V6, power windows what the heck is that? Next they'll have a powered soft top. God save us all.

the bad news is that the Challanger weighs so much that the V6 will probably get worse mileage than the Hemi because it will be severly underpowered!

id die to have a new Challanger though...i went to the dealership the other day to show my bike off to a couple people i know there (family owned business, one of the guys was our neighbor and my dad worked there at one time...plus he rides!) and i went to look at the Challanger. what a beautiful car. only downsides...

what? no manual transmission! FAIL! LOL
and again...no LIME GREEN? c'mon...that was a classic color!!

still a pretty car, and probably a heck of a lot of fun to drive too!

i still prefer my Japanese cars...Nissan 350Z please! or new GT-R! but i cant hide the fact that i would love a nice American V8. i loved the new GTO, i really like the new Mustangs, and now the Challanger!

You don't have to give up Muscle Cars as a father (if that is what you are into, I know I am)... and you can still have 4 doors. Last three cars I owned were very fast, and (I think) pretty cool... I had a 1996 Impala SS, highly modified, ran low 12's in the heat and dipped into the 11's when cooler... I had a 2005 Dodge Magnum RT, I loved the look of it, not very fast though... and now have a 2007 Dodge Charger SRT8, when stock ran high 12's... only slightly modified now.

Anyhow, I like 4 doors, can drive more people around, pack more stuff in... etc... etc... Plus I now have an 8 month old Son who loves the sound of the headers and exhaust I have on my car... my wife thought it would scare him, but about 2 miles down the road, he's fast asleep.

A girl I work with showed up with her hubby's brand new (year old) vette. I asked if it had a 6spd, she said she didn't know, I said it says it on the shifter (thinking she just didn't get it going that fast), I looked in it, ARRRRRG, a dog o matic! First off, who lets their wife take the Vette, while he rides her Volvo? and who the heck spends that much money on a sports car, in automatic? Now I didn't mean that women can't drive fast cars, that not what I'm saying, I'm saying I wouldn't let her take it if I had to drive hers.

I'm also partial to Jap cars. I'd like a twin turbo Supra, like the one in F&F. Am muscle cars are fast, but Jap cars turn too. [rolls in grenade, ducks for cover]

i know...to me the only way to roll is with a manual! i think everyone should learn how to drive one, so that way they can drive anything! as a side story my dad worked at a dealership. he said guys would come in and say they wanted such and such car in manual. so they went to look at one and test drive it and the guys wouldnt know a thing about driving a manual transmission!
and theres no way i would let my woman touch my vette...LOL just like my bike! actually...one of my neighbors had a Viper. his wife wrecked it!
my girl isnt a bad driver...shes never had a wreck or anything. but i wouldnt trust her with 500 HP. no way. 175 does her just fine!

but i would LOVE a supra...but i like the 350Z more. twin turbo it and they fly! and they handle well!

Yes. Especially compared to 425. I have driven a Charger SE... felt like I could get out and push it faster.

As for the gas mileage, I can guess that it will get roughly 18 MPG for 80% highway 20% city commute with the SRT8 engine... I am also guessing the V6 will get better than that.

Wow...pretty neat. Especially since the 09s haven't even started production yet . Production of the 09s slated for August 5th.

Read my post carefully... I said I drove a Charger SE...

The weight between the Charger and the Challenger are pretty close. The initial release will have the same engine, transmission and rear end (maybe a change in gears?) that the Charger (300) use (SE and SRT8 at least... not sure if there will be an SXT or RT version).

Challengers are also showing up on the street, saw one last weekend. They have been in production for quite some time now, just haven't been officially released. August is the official release date... and as usual, some will be leaked to "preferred" customers and dealerships for display early.

Oh yeah....I see now. I rented a Charger for a week for a business trip with the 3.5 V6. It seemed to run just fine to me. The brakes seemed weak though.

The only Challengers out now are 2008 SRTs. The 2009s will be here in a couple months.

AHH!! Good catch... I just got done reading about the limited release of the SRT8 Challenger in 08, so my bad.

I guess it's what you are used to... I drive my wife's car and the "underpowered" V6 drives me nuts... she drives my car, and the V8 and noise scare the crap out of her!!
