If Alan gets any new CDs, he's a dead man. But that's a good question. I didn't leave any blank places because I filled all the books. I figure if he buys more CDs, we'll just start a new book. Or keep them in the jewel cases. Either way, I hope we don't buy any new music for a while. Or DVDs. It's just insane!

I went back and looked at the picture, it has all four strings.

OH!! You were thinking of an ego stick. Yea, see, I don't play guitar. I prefer to drive the bottom end.

If you'll look closely at the picture you will see something that is missing from that bass. Or more importantly, something I did not want on it.

Apparantly both you and your brother were dropped on your heeds as babies. A plethora of leather, chains and spikes does not the best metal band make my friend......

Knobs?

I have a jazz bass in almost the exact same color.

HMMMM

Sabbath and Priest both hail from the iron town of Birmingham, home to British Steel (and by the way a title of a kick arse album from Judas Priest) but yet Mr Bubble disses both of them in favour of a band with Iron in its name. I have to wonder either he is anti Birmingham Heavy Metal or just a pretender wannabe supporter

Did you know that Ian Hill actually passed away 20 years ago? No word of a lie, they had his body embalmed and position him on the stage with bass in hand at every concert.
Funny thing is, in 20 years nobody has noticed that he isn't alive, or that nary a bass note has come from their stack of Marshalls.
In fact, and this is a true story, all reviews of Priest's music since ian's untimely demise seem to show that their music has improved......if only slightly.

Um... Who's Judas Priest? "ducks" Just kidding guys. LOL... Seriously though you're all crazy. Classic Metallica (or their new album) is where it's at.

Did you buy it or build it? Sure looks like your doing a final setup. I used to be the computer / marketing guy @ Stewart McDonalds.

I bought the bass as a project. It is a very inexpensive fretless, so needed extensive work to make it playable.

I'm well aquainted with Stewmac. My order for parts for this was purchased through them. In the included picture, I'm doing some setup work after getting the neck shimmed to a workable height. That is not the final setup, and the bass has had much more work done since then. As of today it is at least playable as a fretless, and is pretty nice. It is nowhere near as nice as my Fender's, but is decent.

Here's a few links to some threads on my bass forums. These are rough pics of the bass when I was determining what needed to be done.

After a weeks worth of work it was getting better, but not where I wanted it to be. Since these pics were taken I've cut a new bone nut, and tung oiled the board with 6 coats of oil. The basic setup is pretty good at this point, and the bass plays and sounds decent.

Next step is to replace the electronics and install a SD, SPB1 pickup. I already have the wiring kit, and yes I got it from Stewmac.

Ya... they're up there in the top 5.

Honestly, if I had to pick THREE bands that I would be stuck with for a year on a desert island... it would take me a week to decide, and Rush would be one of them.

I won't comment on the bridge/pickup covers that nobody has used since 1954...
Hard to see the neck clearly... I don't see any dot inlays... but did you go fretless?

Desert island? Well, then I'm not going without Jimmy Buffett, a bottle of tequila, and a blender.
