2003 Vulcan Classic 1500
195/60/16 Hankook Optimo H426 Darksider
Words aren't children and there's nothing wrong with killing them to clarify a point or keep the peace.
I resized one to 62X47 but the file size is 43.5 KB and the avitar instructions say nothing bigger than 19.5 KB. So, when I try to upload that one from my computer files, I get a message saying the file exceeds the 19.5 limit. When I try to upload it from Photobucket, again, I get "Remote file too big." The pixel size is within the limit, but the KB size is too big.
Suggestions, other than bagging the avitar idea?

If you are unsure if you belong in the club, you do not belong in the club.
NEVER bag the avatar idea! Simple glitches like this creep up all the time...
What pic software are you using... the Windows picture manager, or something like it? If so, there should be a "compress picture" option, and that should give you the option of choosing how much to compress it, and how big it will be after you do...
Then, once you resize it to less than 125x125, it should be OK.
I have noticed that there are times this forum rejects a picture for no reason that I can figure out... and I've just re-saved the picture with a new file name and started over... but it's worth having one in the end!
Or... PM me the pic and I'll do it for you, send it back, and then you can put it up!!! At least that way, you'll have your av while you work on doing again if you ever want to change it! Like, say, if you want to put a hat on it!![]()

I'm using the Windows picture manager. I'll give it try. If that doesn't work, I'll try sending you the pic. I just hate giving up on something that should be so easy!!! Thanks for the advice and encouragement. BTW, love the donkey!

If you are unsure if you belong in the club, you do not belong in the club.
You can also resize it in photobucket.
Well, as you can see, I finally made it work!! Will have to try a bike one later. Can't get the ones I have to work.
Thanks for all of the suggestions!

I'm using a Mac and Firefox. I know how I post pics using a program called Preview, and feature called Grab. Its kinda like screenshot in Windows. Then I save the picture as a jpeg file, and then upload it to photobucket. It's certainly not fast.
I'm just wondering if some one knows a better way.![]()

What is it you're trying to do exactly? When you refer to Windows Screenshot, I'm imagining that you're trying to capture a screen image, but the only time I do that is when I'm trying to show someone exactly what is in a window on my screen, when there's no other way...
But are you talking about something different? What type of picture are you trying to post... something on your hard drive, or something you see on the web?

Actually Jeff, I guess I didn't mean Screenshot. It's been so long, since I have used windows that I forgot about the Paint feature. You can quickly do a little editing and file save as, and so forth. I have been practicing and I have found that I can use Photobucket to upload from my computer as well as from the net.
You did an excellent job on this Tutorial! Thank you so much for all you do for us newbs.
I've been practicing on the Donkey Overload thread, and I hope you don't take offense at any thing I've posted there. I certainly did not do them in a mean spirited way....![]()
A lot of good people seem to hang out there. lol

I enjoy it Tom... glad to help! I know what it's like to be new...
If you're practicing on a Donkey thread, you're MILES ahead of the pack!!! It takes some jam to wade into that thing!!! And no, I'm pretty hard to offend, no worries there! In fact, that's what Donkey is there for, to let people have fun, unload, and everything is taken with a grain of salt... it's gone on for 30K+ posts that way!!!
They're good people all right... good enough that we have some from two provinces, nearly a dozen states, and two counties converging just to meet!!!

Nobody's been here in a while... Should be safe to give it a shot while nobody's looking.
