the valve I ordered is 3/8 npt. do I not need the 2 vacuum/ air hoses with this tank? will the plugs in the holes be enough to seal? heres a pic of mock up
this small tank makes a big difference, I really like it

yeah that does sound like the down side about these things. So even if you gear it up, you are only going to get about 75 miles??
I think I'm running a 17/40 gearing which has lowered the revs from the original set up of 16/46 which was far to revvy, i was in top gear just round town and never changed down!
If it ain't broke....... you didn't let me have a go!!

No you don't need any vacuum hoses with the tank. Just be sure to get a vented cap. Those tanks do look good. If my buddy didn't have his I would have had one on my bike. It looks really great if you cut out the neck gusset.
my bike has consistently gotten 48-50 mpg,I should get a 100 miles. I have the 18/40 sprockets
I would like to rid that neck gosset, the only cuuting tool I have is angle grinder. I gess that will work.

That's all I used. Works great. By the way, I got the exhaust a couple days ago. Thanks again. I am already trying to think of something new.
Thanks to you, I hope they help you create another exhaust-sculpture
so the only hose I need is the fuel line from tank to carb? I had rid the bike of all the EPA canister stuff couple yrs back when I did the performance mods. I need to get some hole plugs to screw in those other holes with thread tape? i waiting on the speedo, cap and petcock, workin on relocated switches today

Yeah all you need is your fuel line. For the rear outlets try to find some plugs that you put in with a allen wrench. They will fit in the holes pretty flush and will be cleaner than the plugs with the square end.
I cut off the 45 degree bends on my exhaust yesterday and welded on some turn outs. It is so simple but so much class. I have a serious addiction. I was trying to get my brother to build a set that night but he couldn't. I have now done 7 totals sets of exhaust. Five just on one bike. I can't stop.
you got a creative pipe mind : )
GOT THE PETCOCK mounted its kinda wierd position, a little long and cocked at slight angle crowded with the carb, intake & close to cylinder head, it fits the 3/8" hole on the right side. do i need to put teflon tape on the threads?
it would look better mounted on the roomer left side but the 3/8" petcock will not fit in smaller hole. need a smaller one.

I don't know if you will be able to find a smaller petcock. You could put a straight hose fitting in the back left hole and use a 1/4" ball valve with hose barbs in each end. It will be cheap. Be sure to put teflon tap on the all the fittings.
you got a close up of Phil's mounted petcock? I think his has leftside
I found a 1/4 petcock, is there any reason this wouldn,t work?
it doesn't show a filter screen, could do a inline filter

I don't have a pic of Phil's fuel line but I have one of my brother's. He did the same thing.
Here is what I did to my exhaust the other night. Just got rid of the 45s. This is much sweeter.

I like the 45's but it's creative
Man looks like that will work, it's so Bobber Basic its COOL. so you just open clamp & start & close when you turn off?

cutting out the neck gusset ? I noticed you also cut off the bottom round frame bar that the gusset is welded to.very clean only the thermo hose is left.

i have been cutting the neck gusset out, some of area is too tight to
get to with a angle grinder using dremmel tool in tight area's which works but slow.
I noticed the pic above brothers bike has the caps on the nipples on cylinder heads
mine has a hose.connecting the heads, whats up with that?

It is just part of that clean air system. We just capped ours off. I am pretty certain you don't have to have them connected. Did you put the hose on it or was it already like that?
It is stock. when I did the performance mods, I got rid og the EPA stuff but that hose was not part of the instructions.
The hose that runs from the carb to the stock petcock, does it need a cap? my bike is all apart now, working on the neck. wiring, relocating switches, waiting on speedo and small petcock, I got a primer on new tank I like the dark gray color with the black frame.

Yeah, anything that is a vacuum port needs to be capped off. Are the crossover outlets in the back 1/4" NPT or are they 1/8". I can't remember on that tank. If they are 1/4 that is a really simple, clean petcock you found.
