That mud guard looks handy. I bet it would be pretty easy to make one with some nylon and velcro. I've been trying to figure out something that I could throw on really easily if I got caught in the rain. Something like that would probably fit the bill.

Yea I'm going to make one. I wonder if it actually works.. Not much to lose if it doesn't. for 16 bucks theres not much to loose if you buy one.

I am having second thoughts about mounting the battery in the space the right side cover leaves. There is room. The move would give me alot of space under the seat to hide the electrics and wiring. The exposed battery is a Kool look, like in the pic above, but I don't like the looks of the frame area that would be exposed which is normally covered by side cover. Comments welcomed.

I was assuming that you were going to be re-mounting the side cover once the battery was installed. Is that not possible?

I like the look of the exposed side mount battery like the sporty I use to own.
I think I will let the battery sit where it is for now. West Eagle will sell me just the frame cover out of their kit. It will cover the battery and the wiring under the seat. I like that idea.

west-eagle sold me just the frame cover out of their bobber seat kit.
I like how it cleaned up the wiring mess under the seat. My seat mount is home made

Looks very nice. Did you have to redo your seat mount, or re-use your existing one?

I still have my home made mount, I cut two small notches in the frame cover so it could slide past 2 bolt heads at the rear of my mount, it fits & looks great, it is gloss black so I will eventually paint flat. In their catalog, they have a solid mount kit $159.95 includes seat mounts, frame cover, nuts & bolts, they have a spring mount kit for $180, a kit that includes fender, struts and all the above for $ 540, I called Hiro asked him for just the frame cover only. He said ok. maybe sales are down I'm glad I followed through. I am thinking about the front of my bike now, bars, risers, grips, mirror, cables, painting. the front will cost more than the rear. so a little at a time, bars & grips next.

That would be great if they would start selling just the frame covers. Nicely done. What kind of bars and mirrors are you thinking of putting on?

question? The previous owner of my 800 had driiled a hole in the top triple tree to mount harley riser. Now that I am planning on changing bars and risers, the hole is exposed and looks bad. I am wondering
can the hole be filled with something that would hold up or welded and groinded? I plan to paint it. a new part is $150. ouch. any sugestions
Dave
I guess Bondo would work. since I plan on painting, I used it fill a dent in my tank??

One year ago today,I was out ridin my 800. There was a Buzzard up ahead eating some road kill, as I got close the bird took off and he was taken his lunch with him which happened to be a snake. I looked up that damn bird was a Snake-Droping Bird and I was right underneath it. Well , I reacted with a jerk of the handlebars a little too far. and got dumped on the hard hot blacktop road, it hurt like hell. road rash, spranged ankle, wrist, medical bills, dented tank, broken peg, me and the 800 had alot of scratches and bruises, as you can see we both survived, the moral of this story is... Beware of the Snake-Droping Birds
they are out there. Dave

I'm glad it didn't turn out any worse. It's been good having you around the forum, and your bike's looking great.
