So you can get a Caddmann, or you can pay $200 for an intake that sucks.

Now I don't really have anything against Arlen Ness, nor do I make a dime off of people who do the Caddmann, but but he's got the name, the money, and the reputation. All I have is a bike, a few tools, and the Web.

So it means a LOT to me to see that people like this mod and are doing it.

Yes it does. Thanks, again guys. (And thanks to Constrictor.)

I really like the mod. I like it even more since I added the K&N filters.

Default is this mod compatible with the Vulcan 900 ?

Hello,

The title says it all, but, is this mod compatible with the Vulcan 900?

Thanks,

No, I'm almost 100% sure it's not. The intake setup's completely different.

Which doesn't mean something similar couldn't be done, and for very little money.

But I don't have a Vulcan 900 handy to prototype it on.

I've only seen photos so far, but for one 900 in person, and the right side looks externally similar, but the left side is completely different from the 1500/1600's.

I thought I had posted this before, but can’t find it if I did. Must have been on VROC
This modification is awesome. It’s easy, fast, and you can feel the difference immediately. My bike responded like a raped Ape. It’s hard to keep my hand out of the throttle, I thought my gas mileage went to h&ll, but it was me and my throttle hand…LOL
Once I settled down and drove it at normal speeds “75-80” on the GSP that’s slow, anyway, mileage went up to 38 MPG, so I’m real happy. I did do a TFI computer, another easy modification, and will no doubt have it dyno’d in the spring, after I get the K&N filters for the bike.

Excellent mod! I tweeked my TPS instead of installing the resistor. It seems to run great with about a 0.03v increase with gutted stock pipes on a vn1600A. Also I cut out and stuffed some closed cell foam into the left side air inlets to eliminate the block off plate. Should take no time to go back to stock if needed. Thanks for the tutorial on this simple and inexpensive mod. I can feel the power boost!

Same as the 900... the shape and design of the airboxes is totally different from the 1500/1600 intakes. The 9" round filter will not mount up properly.

Be creative and make a name for yourself.
So far, nothing on the cheap. Apparently, Thunder finally has an aftermarket for the 900, but it's not going to be cheap.

I bought the conversion from a user on here. I am very happy with the install and the twin filter good looks.

Here is my half way finished version for the 05 1600 Nomad. The only differences that I've seen from the original is the left side cover backing plate has a rubber like snorkel that you have to remove and the weep hole at the bottom doesn't have a long tube to run a screw through. I just filled the weep hole with silicone so if I do ever need to return to stock, I can just punch it out.

Now if only I could make silicone cure faster... They said it was supposed to rain all weekend so I figured it would be a good time to do the mod. Naturally, it is currently 72 and sunny as hell outside.

Here is the left side backing plate. Notice the rubber snorkel that was removed to attach the metal plate:

Here is the inside view of the left side backing plate. The small dot of silicone just below the opening is the weep hole.

Finished view of the right side:

Right side from the rear:

A special thanks to BigJohnYeti for supplying me with all of the parts needed after he installed his Hypercharger.

Very nice, but I'm not sure I would trust the silicone to hold that cover plate in place. I secured mine with screws as well.

As far as returning to stock, I bought a 2nd backing plate when I bought the bike.
