VERY COOL, thanks a million for putting the pics back up! They speak a thousand words!
This DOES answer my question about whether you went hardtail... but I see by your attachment points you were able to maintain low clearance to the tire, but have the fender move with the tire and keep your original suspension, right?! I think?! Does your top attachment point swivel with the swingarm? It would have to, wouldn't it?

In regards to bobbers....
The problem I'm coming across is making the rear fender secure enough to hold a passengers weight. Just a piece of metal and 2 thin supports isn't cutting it. Any ideas.... |

Yes that's exactly right. The fender is now mounted completely to the swing arm, which means the fender stays where it is over the tyre, and the fender now moves up and down with the swing arm independantly of the frame. I have not altered the suspension in any way, and all the changes I made are easily reversable, and I can have the bike looking stock again in about an hour if the need ever arose.

Awesome...
I really like my bike, and have gone the direction of making it a distance cruiser with a bunch of chrome, bags, backrest, luggage rack, floorboards... that kind of stuff, but I know one day this is a project that I very much want to take on, probably when a larger highway cruiser comes into the picture. Mine started out very much like your "before" pictures, so seeing the transformation is really inspiring! You did an excellent job of tracking progress, something I always have the best intentions to do but get so wrapped up in the project sometimes let it slip... congrats on sticking with the pics all the way through! I love that it's all reversible, that really adds to it's value as far as I'm concerned, that's something that matters to me. I'll cry if anything ever happens to this thread before I have a chance to use it all!!! LOL

Come to think of it, the Drifter fender works that way, doesn't it? Move with the tire? You mention in one post that the threaded holes were included at the back of the swingarm for the Drifter... Guess I could have answered my own question... sometimes you need to think out loud I suppose!
