I know what you mean! I just brought home the trophy I won and the first thing is "So when are you going to build the shelf for that to sit on!' "I do not like the damn bike you pay more attention to that THING than you do me." So I guess that I understand your frustration.

I'm finally getting some time to work on the bike now. I took the tank of yesterday and removed the gas cap, grommets etc from it. Will have it sand blasted togheter with the rear fender in a couple of days, and then cover both of them with transparent epoxi when I get them back.

DID YOU KNOW: If you drink 1 liter of water a day that in 1 year you would have concumed over 1 kilo of E.Coli bacteria, So therefore it is better to drink beer and talk stupid than to drink water and be full of poop! (insert better word here) Because beer goes through a purification process of boiling! So remember Water = POOP BEER= HEALTH! |

I've been snowboarding in the Alps for a few days but now I'm back. Droped of the tins at the sheet-metal shop today to have them sandblasted, hoping to get them in return before the weekend. I also stoped by the paint store to get some epoxy, brushes, solvent and clear coat.

Nice work Thullan! Did you lay the seat pan by hand with fiberglass? What did you use as a form? I have been thinking of doing the same thing.

Thullan, I like how that seat looks, how did you mount it? I was thinkin of tryin one like it or one of the Showdown seats-http://www.ultimasaddles.com/solobigtwin.html. Just not sure if it can be made too work without cutting the bar from under the seat area and lowering the battery.

It's nothing but a mock-up so far, trying to get an idea of what it will look like once finnished. I'm pretty sure about how it should be mounted but need to try it out first to see if it works. Focusing at the tins at the moment.
The Showdown is a great looking seat to, and I haven't completely droped the idea of making something similar out of the stock seat. Hardrider and Granuzzi makes similar solo seats for the 800, but they are more slimmed in the back. Making the Ultima Showdown to fit on an 800 could be difficult though. Not sure if there is room for it between the tank and the fender, as it is meant for H-D Softails. But I'd love to hear about it if you decide to go for it!

I thought about cuttin the stocker up for my seat...tryin to find a cheap donor on Fleabay so i can still go back to the stocker (hopin to get my wife on the back one day)! I just replaced my taillight and front marker lights, painted my dash panel flat black. I am tryin to make a new plate mount, but I need some bigger power tools-the dremel takes too long! Here is a link too my Bike Pics page-http://www.bikepics.com/pictures/1194268/. I have been doin some measurin and i think the Ultima would fit....its the underside i am worried about. The bar over the fuse box keeping the seat up too high.

Turned out today that the guy I dealt with had went to Thailand, but the tins had been pearl blasted more than a week ago and were just laying around in the shop now. Not particularly good as they requires further threatment within a few hours after the blasting, or they will start to rust again. I'm gonna pick them up tomorrow, or what's left of them.

A tank full of sand and a fender:
![]() Close-up of the bracket for the front fender. Felt like sand paper, which was pretty cool: ![]() The same bracket after threatment with 120 paper and a first coat of epoxi: ![]() More pictures on Flickr.
