Now that the weather is turning to crap I want to set about making some changes to my 900 custom. First order of business will be a solo seat and mods to/or replacemet of the rear fender to make it fit the rear tire and frame more organically. Then some of the plastichrome and the pipes get the blackout treatment. apologies for crappy lo res pic but you get the idea.
Has anyone out there found a good solo seat (or made a custom pan) for the 900 custom? Anyone hacked into the rear fender? I'm assuming some fab will be required. Thanks!

I like the way you're thinking. I have no experience with any of these ideas, but I definately like where you're going with it. Keep me posted with your progress.
Im gonna ask a few stupid questions now. Im no fabricator or mechanic. How do I go about blacking some of the "plastichrome?" I would have to take it somewhere obviously, but what kind of place? Can you purchase the pipes like that? If so, what brands? As for the seat.... I cant decide which way I want to go with mine. Good luck! Moe

Anvil Customs Solo Bobber Seat... Ebay... Justified Defiance E-Store.... Reasonably priced for basic bobber/solo seats... Classic looks, great leather, perfect patina/dye jobs, plus custom tooling I bought the powdercoated steel pan, no padding... One layer of leather riveted to the pan... Picked it up for $70.... You can get really plush, well built, *****in' seats there with brackets for about $119+s/h.... If I chop another bike, I'll definately buy another from Anvil... |

The plastichrome ain't nothing but plastic. Any body shop can paint it for you. As for the pipes, My plan is to buy some V&H or cobras and have them powdercoated locally. Supposedly, HK is going to make a Black sideburner for the 900 sometime in 08 but I'm not waiting. The seat/fender is a slightly bigger problem, but I'm sure it can happen. There's all kinda steel to hang a fender from back there..

skewterdewd,
I am in to process of fabricating a 2005 HD Softtail Deuce rear fender to fit my '07 Custom. Really close to the same shape, the Deuce fender is just a little bit narrow. Once I get it figured out, I'll post it. Is that the kind of thing you are thinking of doing? |

Yeah, I think so. Does the Duece tin flip up at the end or is it round like a Dyna's? I would love to see that. What kind of alteration does the tin need to fit? I was thinking perhaps a rear tin from a sporty, an older 800 custom, or a Suzuki marauder might be a good stating place too. I just want it to look like it belongs on the bike, without the mondo gap between the wheel and tin.
Post up some pix as you go. There's a bunch of people besides me who would love to see it!

If anyone is Interested Im planning On making a solo seat Pan Mould In a Couple of weeks,Material Being used will Be FibreGlass and It will be Moulded off of the Original seat. so all the Original nuts rubber can be used.
If I was going to Customise a another brand fender to my bike {wich may be on the cards} and It was,nt wide Enough,I would Cut the fender straight down the Middle and add a Piece to the Correct width weld it up then Skim with a Fibre glass Putty and Finish off with Plastic Auto Bog ,spray putty prime and then Paint... |

If you're looking to black out your 900, how about these pipes? I'm getting a set from Britt Customs for my V2K. They also make them for the 900... look identical but with 900 fitment. Can get them chromed or powder coated for 545.00 with or without baffles.
