Here's how it all started...
Bought a very nice zrx from the original owner in May of 06'. Only mods to it were a Micron bolt-on muffler and a Dale Walker jet kit. ![]() I replaced the tires and had a co-worker who does upholstry work as a side job recover a used Corbin seat I bought off Ebay. Road the bike in this form form till late fall of 06'. ![]() By this time I had met up with some local ZRXOA members. Looking at there bikes really got my desire to mod mine going! ![]() ![]() What emerged from my garage in the spring of 07' was this. ![]() The motor that started life at 1052cc's was now 1166cc's, courtesy of a SuperBike Mike billet block and a lightened/balanced crankshaft by A.P.E. The rear suspension had been massaged by Aftershocks and the front receive Race Tech springs/Gold Valves. A full Arata titanium exhaust replaced the heavy stocker. The SBM block was purchased used and was a bit tired. I ran it as such for roughly 2K miles before taking it out to a full 1195cc's. I also added Carrozeria wheels with Galfer wave rotors. ![]() A new years resolution I'm determined to follow thru with! ![]() |

Best run was with the old 1195cc motor was 152 SAE and 88ft. lbs. torque. With the new turbo motor (ZZR1200 motor bored to 1224 w/Ross turbo pistons, lightened/balanced crankshaft and Garrett GT28R turbo) I'm hoping for somewhere in the 240HP range with 160-170 ft. lbs. torque.

Well, parts are starting to come back from the various venders. Got the crankshaft back from A.P.E. and once again they did a great job. They managed to trim off roughly five pounds!
![]() I had the same treatment done on the old motor and it really made a difference in throttle response and how quickly the motor rev'd. Can't wait to see what it's like with 15psi of boost! |

It shouldn't need to be freshened up that often provided I don't get carried away with upping the boost. I know of at least two zrx owners who have/had turbos on there bikes and put some miles on them.
