Default stuck on the last stage of the process

On my wife's 900 Classic, I have gone as far as cutting the inner cap off so that they looks like collars. What's left are just a baffle in each pipe with a collar around them. This stage sounds better but only when she revs the bike, so I want to proceed.

I tried grabbing the baffles and wiggled side to side but they are not moving to much due to the collars. What's the trick?

Thanks!

Ok I have a quick question? I'm in the process of doing a full debaffle. I'm at the point where i have to remove the pipe by using a broom handle. It's pretty loose right now but it's taken me awhile to get there. Was I suppose to drill the back baffle cap that the end of the pipe is welded to or am I suppose to just keep using the broom handle trick to break the weld and thats the end of it. After reading more posts I'm kind of thinking I was suppose to drill the back baffle cap before i started the broom handle process.

Thanks for the help

No... you're almost there. Wiggle on!

Hopefully you've figured it out by now. I don't know what you mean by collars. Have you used the hole saws to remove the baffle?

If by "back baffle cap" you mean this:

then the answer is YES!

No, it's actually further in the exhaust where the other end of that pipe is attached.

It actually came out when i took it for a spin yesterday no idea where it went. I just have to do the other pipe now

Here is the picture with the pipe out is there more I can do? And as you can see I had a rough time with the hole saw. How do i get that extra baffle cap stuff out so I can just have the ring. I've tried pulling on it but it wont budge. I dont think it matters if its in there but i would prefer to have it out.

For those that are worried about it being to loud, check with your local Kaw dealer for factory take offs. I did mine a few days after I bought it (08 900) but I bought a set of take offs from them as well for $50 just in case. They are still hanging up in the garage.

Also if you don't have the sawzall a air chisel works well, Not as clean bit you can clean it up with a nibbler when your done.

Those that didn't notice a power difference is surprising, between myself, brothers and dad we have 4 900's. We did one of my brother's bikes 1st and it was a noticeable difference. He walked away from us. We also found that with the stock pipes it really petered out around 85-90 mph, after the debaffle (complete debaffle) it still pulls to about 100 mph before it peter's out.

Hope that helps with those that are considering it, and yes we are all very happy with the way it sounds as well.

I just wanted to extend my sincerest gratitude to all those who contributed to this thread. I bought a 2007 Vulcan 900 Custom (Blue) a few months ago, and I hated the lame sound coming from the pipes. I read this complete forum twice and decided to totally debaffle my pipes. Thanks for all the great pictures and step-by-step advice. I spent $28 on two bi-metal hole saws (1 3/8 and 2 3/4) and it took me less than an hour; I used a Dremel Multi-max tool (the one that oscillates) with a metal-cutting tip to cut the pipe before using the hole saws to remove the baffle. I already owned the Dremel which I used for home repairs, so I didn't have to spend any money on that. The longest part of the process was the 35 minutes it took to shake the baffles loose. I love the deep, husky, rumbly sound of my Vulcan now, and I agree that it sounds better than a Harley. The sound of the bike now matches the looks. Thanks again for all those who contributed to this forum.
