The whole thing was easy enough. Pretty straight forward and the sound is pretty good. I'm still going to upgrade to cobra longs by the summer.

Never heard any whistles. But then again, stage 1 and drilling holes in the baffle caps did very little as far as sounds goes....so I went on to the de-baffle.

Just worried about it being too loud. A couple of posters noted this and even went to the trouble to re-baffle. But I must say the sound clips I heard sound fine, but are they mis-leading?

Besides, I don't have the hole saws or reciprocal saw, and don't want to mess up the pipes, so might as well just buy the already-baffled pipes from Vulcaneer since he's already done the work.

Tejas, the hole saws will run you about $20 for both the sizes you need (that's for both, not each).
You can buy an inexpensive reciprocating saw for about $60 at Lowe's, and 4$ for two metal cutting blades. If you can swing it, I would do it, I think it's definitely worth it. I'm very happy with the sound and volume ![]() Last edited by vulcan_dude : 12-21-2008 at 01:18 AM. |

If you don't have the reciprocal saw, why not rent one for an hour instead of running out and buying one. You'll use it all of about 60 seconds total so unless you need one for other projects it's pointless to waste bucks buying one.

Wow, can't hardly go wrong for $18! Even if it just works for this project, it's well worth it, though I'm sure it will last much longer. Harbor Freight often does have some sweet deals going on.
Yes, the tone is what is awesome about a complete debaffle, it's deep and sounds like it means business ![]() |

I have to vote no on that question. The videos of debaffled pipes I've seen are pretty much quite on the mark. I've been running back and forth between getting new pipes or leaving the debaffled ones right where they are. My own opinion is that the back pressure you lose by debaffling is probably not a good idea, but I could be wrong there. I think what I'm going to end up doing is adding an intake and leaving the pipes alone for the time being. I have a new Cobra processor setting in the closet waiting for an excuse to install it, and the intake, along with the debaffled setup would be just such an excuse. Eventually I will probably add pipes, but not for another year or so. ![]()

Well.......I did a partial debaffling this afternoon. Took it as far as putting the 4 holes in the back wall of the baffle. so far I am happy with the sound at this point. I think I may put 4 more holes in it and see how it sounds. I can definately hear a difference now. I did get a little bit of popping but not enough to get my attention too much yet. Will do the marbling job if it gets worse or begins to bother me. Will probably up grade pipes next year sometime but this was definately an improvement. Wouldn't have had the confidence to do the job with out this post and of course delphi. Thanks for the great post again!!!
