I doubt you'll be unhappy with a full debaffle. Buy the right tools and do a good job and it will surprise you how good it sounds. The only reason really that I put the REbaffle plugs in there was because I buggered up the job by doing the first two stages and not having a hole saw to remove the outer ring properly. It looked awful and folks in town were scowling at me. Sounded fine to me and still sounds ok, but not "quite" as loud.

Do it. It seems like only a few months ago that I had my doubts and sought the reassurance of the members of this forum.

I remember a very persuasive argument made by predfan2001 in another thread-

Stock pipe de-baffle too loud? You're pulling our chain right? I could understand if you were talking about de-baffled Cobras, but stock?
predfan2001 spoke the truth and I felt ashamed for even asking such a foolish question.

However, I still had my reservations. I looked deeper and began to question the very foundation of this forum. For example, I wondered if the guys on this forum really knew what the hell they're talking about? For all I know predfan2001 could be thirteen with half a semester of auto shop under his belt or even worse he could be 18 and working at Pep Boys. (kiddin pf01)

I needed a higher authority and found it - not in Tennessee but in North Carolina

So, if you're saying to yourself "should I do the entire debaffle?" listen up.

    I used a 2-3/4" and a 1-3/8" hole saw.

If I want to go ahead and de-baffle my 900, should I or should I NOT cut out the screen(s)? I'm reading it both ways and it sounds like those who did "step 1" in addition to steps 2 and the 3 are having issues and/or are considering are rebaffling.

Please clarify. Otherwise, the directions are pretty clear. Thanks!

If you're worried about it being too loud, do steps 1 and 2 first. If you're not, skip steps 1 & 2 and use the two hole saws as diagrammed back in the thread. I get happier with mine all the time, seems to be getting deeper and better sounding all the time, though I don't see how.

The concession is, if you don't like what you end up with you can add the strainer screens and lessen it just a bit... maybe 5-10%.

Plus, by debaffling rather than adding aftermarkets, you still have the EPA stamp and though not actually legal, will probably pass inspection in a few years.

In step 1, you are punching or cutting out the center cap in the baffle. If you do a complete debaffle, it won't matter whether you do step 1 or not, as the baffle containing this cap will be completely removed.

In other words, if/when you do the complete debaffle, you are removing the baffle that contains the cap that would've been removed in step 1.

    I hope that makes sense.

Ah yes... THANK YOU! I didnt realize the screens were within the baffle portion that I would be removing with the "step 3" option. Thanks a many for clearing that up.

    Hi, I have a question
I am from Europe and I've heard that on european models exhaust's are different from american. Is that true?
If they are, what's the difference?
I'm planning to debaffle my stock pipes but I've heard some stories about the difference.
If anyone could help me I will be very thankful!!

Hello Marijo and welcome to the forum. I don't think I've seen any info anywhere about the difference or how it would affect the debaffle procedure. My GUESS would be that you might not need the catalytic converter in your area and if that's the case I wouldn't think it would make any difference to the debaffle. Just a guess. Please, if you decide to debaffle, let us know how it goes.

I think that I have the catalytic converter and that is the difference...
Is that means that I can't debaffle?

The converter is not a problem. The baffle is spot welded to a flange aft of the converter.

If so, see easy mod below
    If not... erase erase erase

Simple matter of removing the plate lamp and moving the plate bracket up to those holes, which happen to be the same spacing, then saw off part of the black fender extension. You'll need a license plate frame with a light in it... mine is the Radiantz Illuminator. But then you'll need a place for the inspection sticker. I moved mine to the side, but I'm told that can get me a ticket in Texas, so I'm looking at getting one of the chrome plates that will put it just to the right of the plate. If you get the same frame as me, you have to file a notch in the upper right corner of the plate for the wire to pass by.... instructions fail to mention that.

Did you have to do and remapping or commander add on to adjust for the loss of back-pressure? How bad is the backfire/pooping since the removal? Or does the computer auto adjust? I drilled mine a few noths ago and want it louder and plan to do the same..

    Thanks,
    Mo
